One Original and one Moisturizing. (Big tubs too).

Wasn't sure what to expect except everyone said it's similar to Proraso Pre/Post shave.

Is it? Until I get some Proraso I won't know for sure, but it's funny stuff innit?

Peculiuar smell, albeit not strong. Not as tingly on the physog as expected - in fact not tingly at all.

So having got it, what ideally, should I do with it? A pre or a post shave or both or neither...I'm not sure now. I don't have acne (which is what I gather it's good for).

Maybe not one my better buys?

I love the stuff as a preshave only. Very Slick. Apply a thin layer between passes and your shave will be as smooth as shit off a greasy shovel
The smell I don't like. ( the analogy of shit on a greasy shovel comes up again) Medicinal yuck but the performance makes up for it IMO

Got the Proraso green and white
The green is nicer smelling- same as the shaving soap. Like sticking one of those Vicks inhaler thingies up yer snout. Strong menthol hit
The white is ok smelling. Sweet milky smell to my nose. Less intrusive.
Performance of the Proraso is great.
For slickness the Noxzema is better. Just wish the smell was better.

Preshaves are hugely discussed as to whether they have any benefit at all
I use them now more as a ritual before applying a lather. To me it's all part of the fun and does improve slickness

YMMV

I agree, Noxzema is definitely slicker than proraso, but proraso is better as a post shave, as you get that big menthol hit after the shave.

Right you are then - that's a help. Did just, on the spur of the moment, as it were, stick some on prior to a mid afternoon shave. Then was overcome by the requirement to jettison last night's supper...so that took up a short while, then got a call from the Mrs who had just been told (at Specsavers) that she has a cataract...and she's paranoid about anyone getting near her eyes... So there was another ten minutes...by which time the Nox had well and truly dried on. But, in fairness, it soon liquefied again with a sink based sploosh, which was followed by an admittedly fine shave with a Lord Chrome blade in the S2 Slant followed by all manner of chemical applications, oils, unguents and sweet smelling pleasantries.

So we're sorted. Have decanted the Nox into a more manageable sized pot and it's been allocated a place in the newly installed, oversized, Ikea cabinet.

Thanks for advice.

If you like the Nox you can get a smaller quantity in a press dispenser DStan. It's certainly got a large fan base for all manner of uses in the USA and Canada.

If you ever get a sun burn the Nox is your friend, if you managed a bad shave it's also your friend. Pre Shave is superb as well, I use it every day when I can't be arsed to shower but need my shave.

All 7 previous posts studied and noted. Thanks for them. Yes I can see it'll form part of the daily routine now....(a) added to the pre-shave soak mix, (b) used in between passes for the slickness described, ( c) a drop of it added to the (now, rather comprehensive) post-shave mix and rubbed well in and (d) as and when needed if over exposed to the sun.

Couldn't see the pump dispenser for sale individually but Supedrug do a dispenser for not a lot so will get one and decant it.

Bryan. First Class recommendation re. a dollop between passes. Will undoubtedly become a firmly established part of the routine hence the convenience of the dispenser on the shelf.

I've added some Nox to yet another container ( a small pump dispenser). Haven't fully decided exactly what part of the routine it will augment but do love a mix of ingredients - it'll probably be a 'pre-shave speciality';) ..so it'll very likely be my new "Franken-pre". It consists....

Orange, Lemon Bergamot, Sandalwood, Tea Tree, Patchoili Essential oils. Plus Florida water, Pinaud Clubman, Glycerine, Witch Hazel, Noxzemia, liquid soap, menthol, Water, Sodium Chloride, Glycerin, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Polyquaternium-11, Parfum (Fragrance), DMDM Hydantoin, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Ethylparaben, Butylparaben, Propylparaben, Isobutylparaben, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone, Benzyl Alcohol, Benzyl Salicylate, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Citral, Citronellol, Coumarin, Geraniol, Hexyl Cinnamal, Hydroxycitronellal, Limonene, Linalool (actually the long list is what's in a spot of 'Toni and Guy Hair Styling Texturising Spray with Sea Salt' ....the list of ingredients sounded like a distinctly serious collection so couldn't resist it).

If my face dissolves overnight I'll post here advising caution, otherwise assume it's a concoction to die for.

I love this stuff. I use it in my post shave routine. It has a medicinal smell and feeling to it, at least I think so :)

But a word of warning. Don't leave it out where it will get warm. My lovely daughter moved it onto a window sill and since then whatever oil is in it seems to have separated from the cream. I have to give it a good stir before using it. Tried putting in the fridge but still not the same consistency as when it first arrived.

Enjoy it Stan :)
