Newest Synthetic Style: FlatTop

I ordered one of these brushes from AP Shave as it seems to be the only new (and interesting) synthetic knot at this time and quite frankly I want to compare it to my SynBad (mew brown) brush. I will make a report soon. Stay tuned "Synth Heads". ;)

Yes, I meant revolting, repulsive, offensive etc.

As previously said, I admire his ability to come up with new knot styles but would never personally buy one due to the handles which look like the product of a primary school art project. People obviously buy them otherwise he wouldn't keep selling them, but then The Sun newspaper is also a best seller :p

This is definitely a case of YMWV. I recently purchased an AP Shaving Synbad and I think the faux marble handle is perfectly presentable particularly at the price point. The Synbad has replaced my Muhle synthetic v2 as my travel brush due its superior performance and overall quality. BTW, I'm not sold on synthetic brushes in general, but they do work well as a travel brush because they dry very quickly. My day-to-day brush at home is one of my 30 badgers comprising 3-band sivertips from Thater, shavemac, Kent, M&F, Leonhardy, Semogue and Simpson; and Simpson best and shavemac finest

Well, it came and I have used it. This one: https://www.etsy.com/listing/616594044/24mm-flattop-w-faux-marble-v2-handle?ref=related-7

I will preface this by stating up front that if you are a face latherer then you need this one. If a bowl latherer then perhaps not so much. It is extremely soft, slightly softer than the Synbad "mew brown" knot IMO. It splays extremely easy, easier than a Tuxedo & SynBad for sure. I honestly think you could face lather for an hour with this one w/o brush "burn". What is does better IMO is quite simply distributes lather better to the face than other synthetics. I needed far less "paintbrush" style face lathering than with my "mew brown" brush or other earlier gen. synthetics I have used and since sold/traded/mothballed.

Is it Earth shattering? No, but these few things it does better are exactly what I was wanting a synthetic brush to do in that it splays so easily, is so damn soft and is such a perfect face latherer. I don't have a Cashmere to compare, but perhaps this is the "missing link" between softness & latherability(?).

If you could only have 1 knot type, which would it be?

I'd love to say I am fluent in Latin but that'd be a lie! Google is my friend...

I scraped through my O Level Latin. Still remember Caesar's Gallic Wars - one sentence could span two pages. Like:

"Ceasar, having encountered the Gauls in the foothills of the mountains, his troops having slept well and taken up their arms at a timely opportunity, the enemy having disposed themselves on the left flank, the weather being somewhat cold for the time of year, the plan of the previous day having been modified to suit the existing conditions..... drone on......drone on.....drone on...... and the enemy having been thoroughly routed and sent on their way..... went to bed and slept soundly."
