I purchased this without doing much homework...... one day I will learn.

I thought it might be an aluminium handled no58 set

Anyway could somebody advise what I have bought please.

Ooh, I made and offer on that and quickly retracted it... Last thing I need is a Gillette TTO.

Nice razor, good price

:) Thanks, i have a bit of buyers regret, it was a snap decision, just hoping it's not got an aluminium handle.

I am hoping this a slightly more aggressive razor than my 1940s Tech

If it is aluminum, you should be able to swap it with someone else's no. 58, since the aluminum version is considerably rarer. Either way, you are still getting a very nice shaver.

Edit: it is more aggressive than any of the techs, but not more than a super speed or rocket... usually.

That's really good news and thank you for your advice, how aggressive is this razor, I am currently using a 1940s Tech.

Thank you for your reply.
It's advertised with a chrome case, with a tan interior.
The case is incorrect, since those only came in red cases with a cream and red interior.

As for the shave, they are more aggressive than any tech made, but not signifigantly more than a super speed or rocket, which are considered mild shavers.

Thanks again for your help, really looking forward to trying this razor, I have been looking for a slightly more aggressive vintage razor for a while.

I received the razor today, gave it a quick clean and then gave it a go with a Treet Dura Sharp, found the shave to be much more aggressive than the Tech I have been using and ended up with a couple of cuts, need to alter my technique perhaps and try again.

The razor is is nice condition is quite heavy but feels really good, hope I can get used to it.

I tried it again tonight and I just can't take to it, think I will stay with my Tech, it's not perfect but it's near enough. :)

don't give up too soon - keep hold of it for a while and go back to it when your technique has improved.

also, try different blades - i would recommend a Polsilver SI or an Astra. I found Treet blades to be pretty poor generally
