New Gillette Treo

Very interesting product design, looks like it is a Gillette Guard head with a modified handle?

I agree it looks like it could be a really great product and I might pick one up at sometime for a friend of mine.

I applaud the motive for this, but they're fibbing when they say that 0 razors had been designed for shaving others.

Yes, obviously they forgot the millions of hospital use razors used for ages. Clearly, it's an emotional "touchy feely" advertisement that many know is mostly BS, however 99% of advertising is such when you boil it down.

At least this time Gillette appear to be showing some innovation rather than just shoe-horning another blade in there.

Actually, as others have pointed out on another forum, this is the same damn head as the Gillette Guard!! Those sneaky SOB's!! They sell the Guard for about 35 cents in India and you know that this new Treo will be more than ten times that for a little extra "snurdle" of their gel as a bonus.

Of course, it could also be a "canary in the coal mine" test for them to see how well this razor style is accepted & sells in the First World. Hmmm. o_O

Not really clerics and medics don't fit that classification, plus the kamisori wasn't exclusively created for shaving others was it?

I admit that I'm shaky on the history of the kamisori, but I was only aware of it being used by monks and samurai both of whom were typically shaved by someone else. I thought that was the reason for the chisel grind as it was intended to be used in one hand with the same side against the skin.

I am quite prepared to be corrected though as straight shaving is way too scary for me so I'm far from an expert.

You are correct, having spent over an hour reading everything points to it originally being used to shave others (monks and samurais) but then moving to a self shaving as well.
