New Focus SE

I like the whole idea maybe it will just be a novelty that won't be remembered but i like my rocnel se P enough to consider this one.

Same feelings here, The SE-P is an outstanding razor for me, so buying this aluminium razor I think it's a step down. I'll consider getting it as a travel razor if the reviews are stellar.

My worry was the Blade clamp. When I heard it is effective.... I have ordered. DE is dying out for me and I probably have a few thousand blades :-(

It does seem to be an alternative to the Rocnel SE-P which I've read a few design related problems in addition to the main one, very erratic supply!

The design eliminates some of the "protruding blade ends" quirks found in the Rocnel, and there's no need to trim or break more bits off the blade.

I'm surprised about the supply aspect, as every time I've looked at the Rocnels on the Yourshaving site, the plain and OC versions seemed to be in stock.

At YourShaving the OC version has been in stock but the closed comb if you try to press the add to cart button there's none in stock - hasn't been any stock for a very long time.

@neilwf
Connaught have it in stock for £45

Thanks for letting me know. If it works it's a good idea. Great choice of really cheap blades. I can't wait to see some reviews.

Just got mine today.....this is in my SOTD

Continuing with my cheap and cheerful tube creams.....I held off shaving today as I was expecting the delivery of my Focus Dynamic SE. The RSC cream is something I am familiar and confident with when trying a new piece of hardware.
Well.....I am in a state of turmoil. In all my time shaving....I have preached....'NO Pressure'
This razor has a pivot....so to a certain extent it will perform like a cartridge razor and requires a certain amount of pressure. I had a 3 pass BBS shave. The razor is well built and designed. The blade was held firmly in place with no sharp corners to cause injury. The Durasharp blade is sharp....but I dont think I could have cut myself if I had wanted to. Angle of attack is set up for you.
Many will say it is too mild....but it is incredibly efficient. I could be cruel and say it is an upmarket metal Gillette Guard without aircraft carry-on. However it is a brilliant twist on the SE....massive blade choice and I DID enjoy using it! Its a keeper!

Read this earlier today and was 'enabled' - hopefully I'll be using trying one for myself either tomorrow or over the weekend.

I hope you won't be disappointed. There seem to be mixed feelings about it when I look at other forums. Just remember that some pressure is required.....it has to be used like a cart. I have a specific plan for mine and will probably only use it to meet those requirements.

1) A quick reliable and easy shave when speed is necessary.
2) like most people my difficult areas are on my neck. If I am wearing a shirt with a collar up until now I have shaved a few hours before going out or even the night before. Now I can get up..... shave....and go about my business with a good shave and no worry of a 'weeping' neck. I still prefer shaving with most of my other razors in my rotation....but this doesn't cost a lot of money has low running costs and will serve its purpose admirably

Your experience seems very like mine.

It's taken me a few tries to realise this is all about pressure, and also to decide the right angle of attack for different facial areas.

One slightly disconcerting trait, when not enough pressure is used, is for the head to "catch" on tough areas, snap fully back and then return to normal.

Once I've got the hang of it ( something I still need to do per session), it shaves well. Clearing away soap frequently is essential to avoid blocking the head.

It's certainly different and, like yours, won't become a favourite, but I'm pleased I got it. The quality is excellent for the price, although personally I would have preferred slightly less prominent branding on the handle. Possibly getting the black handle with white lettering wasn't wise.
