New Boots and Panties!!

There is or was a theory that skinheads wore different coloured laces in their Dr Martens depending upon which "tribe" they belonged to. Never went along with the violence but enjoyed the style/fashion, which descended from the mods originally and the graduated to the smoothie or smooth heads: Levi Jeans (cut high); Harrington Jackets; 3/4 lengths Sheepskin Coats ; Gingham Checked Ben Sherman Button Downs; 1/2" braces; Leather Soled Brogues (Squires and Royals), Ashtrays, Box Weave Ashtrays; obviously, Dr Martens or Corsicans; Sta Press Trousers; Crombies; white or red socks; Pocket Handkerchief Squares; the occasional Short Brim Trilby Hat; Fred Perry s/s Polo Shirts (with the two black line collar tips/edgings); and then later, the Two Tone Mohair Suits; all in all, a very practical style.

Can the moderators review the comments above by TobyC please?
Such comments as this do not add anything to the thread or the Forum and are really not called for in my opinion.

Perhaps I've got it wrong TobyC; if you are referring to TSS's comments, I would say that they are border line and I was adding my comments to try to bring the subject back on topic. If so, unreserved apologies.

My reading of this is that Toby is making a mordant comment regarding his personal knowledge of particular clothing styles and the doings of skinhead youths. I find nothing particularly offensive therein. I'm removing the bit where it gets personal and urge you to 'Keep Calm and Carry On'.

Thanks.
Thank you Paul, you are indeed a fine gentleman.

It would be appreciated if any other posters have any comments of the particular styles of the late 60's , very early 70's or indeed if anyone else was / is aware of the styles / clothing I mentioned in my post. It was an important development in fashion / style at that moment in time, as far as I am concerned, who was at that age when it all happened and lived around the suburbs of the east end of London.
