NEVER AGAIN...

What one soap or cream would you never allow in your bathroom again.

Pecknsniff's Cream (It is a hard soap) - lovely scent, lovely packaging, lousy lather.

Cella - based purely on the smell.

Love almonds, hate marzipan.

Superb lather though. Perhaps, one day, if I lose my sense of smell . . . ?

WS blue bowl for me too, it's the worst soap I've tried. Why can't they fill the bowl with the same stuff the stick is made from?

Neal's Yard shaving soap. Had some a while ago, and it found it to be slightly worse than useless.

Interesting comment regarding the Pecksniff''s stuff. I've found that it lathers ok.

Ian

I get along fine with the blue bowl. and can get a really good lather from it...

I am yet to find something i hate, give it time it wont be long though im sure

Yup: Pecksniff's (a bogus pseudo-Dickensian name if ever I heard one) and Neal's Yard soap (but their ASB is awesome . . . .)

I'm open to accepting a PIF of some Cella, though . . .

I think Winston Churchill was a fan of some of their stuff :D

It always seems to be in TK Maxx, very heavily discounted, which puts me off a wee bit.

I'm imagining Winston Churchill rummaging around in T K Maxx . . . .

I bet when he was into Pecksniff's it was handmade in Picadilly and not the shoddy stuff they can't shift at TKM. It was their big discounts that made me buy and and made me suspicious and it lathered really badly. The scents wear weirdly as well, changing to reveal their synthetic base. Best avoided.

Can’t say I have tried the Pecksniff but sounds like I don’t want to.

I don’t think I have bought any that I have thought to be terrible in terms of performance. The only NEVER AGAIN one would be the canned Gillette gel again. And that is not a poke at everything cartridge related.

When I got out of hospital a while back I did not have the mobility to have a really good shave. I used a Mach 3 cartridge with TOBS Avocado and a good brush. What a difference decent soap and a brush make. It seems to me half of my initial problems with cartridge shaving (red dots on neck and too many spots) were more related to the gel in a can than the razor. I shaved like that for about five weeks and found the shave a not too terrible experience.

I guess a lot of us went from using gel rubbed in with your hands to a DE with good soap and a brush so it is not a fair comparison. I mean how many of you want to use your DE with Gillette Gel? If I had to choose between DE and Gel or a Mach 3 and soap with a brush, I would in all honesty take the Mach 3 and good soap, for me it made all the difference.

Apparently old Winston never really worried about counting the pennies
.
Certainly if you are prepared to pay full price then you would really have to love the stuff

For the price you can pick up Pecksniff's at in TK Maxx it's worth it. Not for the 'cream' though; even discounted, it's not worth it. The other products are very nice however.

I thought Winston was a Blenheim Bouquet man.

I can't really think of anything that I really disliked, although I doubt Erasmic will ever make it back into the bathroom, reformulated or not. I've rejected the Sedburgh Soap Co. juniper berry for shaving purposes, but it's really very pleasant just for washing with.
