All things are relative. England only needed 213 to win, so it was a good score - and they did win.
Mention of telephones prompted me to turn to my left and snap this. A clue to some of my other interests!
The phone is known as a Type16 ( or Skeleton) and was the first produced by the GPO around 1890. It can take calls but it would ruin it to make it possible to phone someone with it. I found it in a shop in Lyndhurst several years ago. Paid £250 for it. You would lucky to find one for less than £1K now. The two bells are ones I had made to my spec. The one on the left by Taylors of Loughborough, the one on the right by Cornille Havard in France. As for English cricket - I have played and watched since consciousness set in.
