Martin de Candre

I've tried a few tubs of MdC in the past few years. The last time, it was when I used up an entire tub of Fougere from start to finish. It lasted exactly 100 days. It was OK, but not the best ever. I haven't been tempted to use MdC again for several years. My personal observations are that (1) it costs too much; (2) it is not slick as I like in comparison to many others, particularly when doing the final smoothing and buffing pass with water only; and that (3) there is an unpleasant background chemical scent that is common to every tub I've ever tried. When the rose version came out, I was able to get a sample from someone in UK, and the rose scent was too strong for my tastes.
What size tub were you using? 200g or 60g?

100 days or 100 shaves doesn't seem right to me for a 200g tub.

How many shaves do you get from other soaps?

For me MDC soaps are fantastic as far as performance is concerned, the lather it produces with 10 - 15 swiirls is plenty for a 3 pass shave, not only that, it is a lather of great quality, with plenty of slickness and cushioning, a luxurious lather with the minimum effort.

I've tried 4 scents, vetiver and rose aren't for me, the fougere and original are more to my liking.

I have other soaps with scents that I prefer and I wish they had the performance that I get from MDC.

The post shave is very good but I always use an aftershave as part of my routine.

The cost of the tub is high but my guess is that the cost per shave is less than the cost of a shave with a PAA soap to mention one soap. Will I buy it again? If I don't get bored of the scents I will, for me scent is more important than performance,
