Oatcake - English Pear shaving soap

Bought from his own Etsy website a few weeks ago. I like to give products a few runs before posting here; once I've had some experience of the product.
It's great to see another new (to me) UK soap artisan creating a top notch soap rivalling any that I have tried.

The lather is right there with the very best and the post-shave skin conditioning is excellent. I found this to be a croap rather than a hard soap and personally wouldn't load from the tin (which is a little on the small side anyway) but I scope a blob out into my bowl. One very nice feature of the soap is that once scooped it actually "dissolves" into the lather very easily when building up a lather. Some other soaps tend to hang around as a blob which either get stuck in the brush or whizzes round the bowl when lathering.

The only (very slight) disappointment is that I didn't get a scent of pear from this soap. I think is is overwhelmed by the patchouli and ylang ylang. I get more of an artificial scent that reminds me of esters in chemistry class. It's not all bad though as I quite like the ester smell anyway, it's just not what I was expecting.

So overall a great soap and I will certainly be buying more of the Oatcake soaps in future when there's enough room in my bathroom man-binet.
