Looking to try SE - bit o advice please

So, I've picked up a couple of SE razors to give it a bash.

What I believe to be a 1912 & a Micromatic.

Are blades freely available for both of these? The 1912 has a rusty blade in is with a spine, the micromatic was empty.

Which would be the less blood thirsty razor to use to start with?

Do you follow the same routine as with DE W X A etc

Blades are available from Paul at Connaught Shaving.

I've not tried one but the Micromatic are considered more aggressive so best to start with the 1912.

ta, just ordered some blades

Only thing to remember with the SE is to make very sure that the blade is correctly aligned with the two indents at the rear sitting in the razor correctly. If the blade is lying at a slant you'll get ever so many minor nicks & weepers. The SEs are, for me, the easiest and closest way to have a nice shave. They're also a more natural transition for anyone who has been using one of the disposable head Gillettes or Wilkinsons.

Enjoy.
