Long Handle Progress

I've only used the old Progress. What are the problems you had with the short handled Merkurs?
 
Oooh yeah, I say to myself my ideal buy is a Mergress: Merkur Progress with a metal knob on the end instead of the original plastic one. You can get the progress and buy the metal knobs separately on ebay for soemthing like 15 quid and do-it-yourself.

I'm hoping the Progress can last 10 years+ before I save up for it.
 
I've read about these 'problems' on other boards. Personally I find no problems with my Progress, it works perfectly well for me. I also have a Jagger Chatsworth which is my comparison. I like it a lot too. :)
