Listerine and its many uses.

Sometime's I give a razor a scrub with some Listerine and an old tooth brush. It's a convenient antiseptic and seems to work but I just haven't quite managed to try it as an aftershave yet.

I have read about people using Listerine as an aftershave splash, and a quick look at the bottle of Plax in our bathroom suggests that could probably be used. The first 3 ingredients are: Aqua, Glycerine, Alcohol. All 3 of these are very popular a/s ingredients. I have no idea what the rest of the ingredients would do, and I'm not about to try it!

Just seems that would really burn! Burns my mouth so much, I use other mouth washes.
Guess it would give a nice tingly feeling. Is there menthol in Listerine?

Exactly.

I've tried a bit on my chops without shaving...quite refreshing if a little "tacky".

The active ingredients listed on Listerine bottles are menthol, thymol, methyl salicylate, and eucalyptol.

You could try Corsodyl or any other Chlorhexidine based MW. It is a good antibacterial and particularly effective against Staf. Aureus which is a common skin pathogen, it is also slightly antifungal. The pink labeled Origional flavored ones are thymol/clove taste so should blend well bay rum AS/colognes.
