Linux users and/or developers?

I've been using Ubuntu now for ~5 years and never look back...

Last month I got a new Laptop and was toying with the idea of keeping W10 as a dual boot. I made a rescue stick, but that experience was so horrible, that I just deleted it and made a clean install only with Linux...

Tried for the first time Mint (after U12) but didn't like it, so now running Mate and am quite happy with it. Needed a Kernel upgrade though for things to run smoothly and will upgrade to 16.1 at the end of the month when they release it

it was a nightmare when i got my first laptop, i had to sideload win7 as the install disk wouldn't work because of missing drivers etc.

i got the laptop for watching films while working away and vcds for the van (vw tool)

i have dabbled in linux a bit but tend to just use windows as i only really use my computer for gaming now

It's not what you buy its what you build

I just bought a refurbished Thinkpad x200 (8 years old...) and installed Linux Mint xfce in dual boot with Windows 7 pro. After a bit of fine tuning, I must say that I enjoy more and more Linux, although I have to stick with Windows because some tasks are easier or some softwares are developped for it.

No Dev here but am a Linux user since 2001. Currently on Ubuntu Mate LTS but have been distro hopping like a trampoline during the years. Tend to favor the deb-based ones

See I posted here 5 years ago. Still not a developer....but my main machine uses Manjaro and I am currently with you courtesy of a Raspberry Pi 2B and Raspian pixel.

let0s revive or Linux pride, gents.
Centos on the laptop
RedHat (and Solaris OS, well, not linux but at leas *nix) at work
Ubuntu on the desktop PC

Bash/KSH scripter here, the bank I work for has some ugly pieces of my scripting around all servers :D

An impressive necro bump and a timely one.

My main computer is a 4 or 5 year old Macbook Pro and it's had a problem with a battery and in the last few days I installed Lubuntu on a 10 or so year old Macbook.

I'm enjoying using it a lot. It's much quicker than I expected, and seems to have a lot less bloatware than I am used to be it on a Mac or PC.

The Linux distro has affectively given me a new (old) computer!

I've left Apple computers once they moved to Intel processors. At that point there was no "specialized" hardware o them. Power PC arch (RISC based) had great advantages on some software. Right now they only are expensive and well desinged PCs with a modded BSD on top.
I remember my old macbook with yellow dog linux running, I loved it so much :D

Linux sysadmin here, use a Mac for work. Used to be a package maintainer for a Linux distro and wrote the initial documentation for Dolphin file manager prior to it's inclusion in KDE4.

I used to be heavily into Linux but as I now work using it every day I like to keep some separation between work and downtime. I tend not o care now what I am using.

I'm an evangelist, i am forcing my wife to use at least Ubuntu for her daily stuff at home (fb, some chat, some news, lots of shopping, lots of shoes...)
It works...9 out of 10 logins are on the linux partition. Unless she learnt how to cheat logon
