Limited edition brush ...

There is a whole hullabaloo on Badger & Blade at the moment about a limited edition brush made by Kent for members of B&B. See this http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php?t=118756 and many other connected threads.

The knot does look extremely nice. It is a triple (!) stuffed silvertip, 22mm knot, 45mm loft made by Kent. The handle is an hour glass shape, looks cute but I do wonder how practical it is.

Anyway, price is $135 plus $10 shipping in the US, $30 shipping to the UK!! And that's before import duty and VAT. Madness really since the brush starts in the UK.

I guess The Shaving Room does not have enough scale to order a limited edition brush just for TSR members, but I was just wondering if we could piggyback off B&B ... Same knot, standard handle. Shipped in the UK. Much cheaper, no???

Kent do make beautiful brushes at very competitive prices but I have always thought they were a bit floppy. The B&B09 could be an interesting solution.

Chaps: what do you think??

I might well be interested in a TSR brush at a sensible price - $165 is going it some. I think that the handle would work well as it's rather similar to the one Neo made for me, and that's very practical and comfortable.

I've been following the progress of that brush but I personally don't care for the shape or the colour ( if it is going to be solid butterscotch) but I'm interested in the knot. See what you can find out, I'm not sure how they would feel about doing a cheaper version but you can only ask. If you could secure a few knots and there is enough interest you might be onto something.

For $165...I've got to love that brush but I really don't because it's in serious Simpson and Rooney territory.

That's more than I paid for a Simpson's PJ2 two band. Crazy.

The design is rubbish too - an American's flawed concept of olde British, slim hipped jug design and butterscotch colouring.

Does anyone have a contact at Kent? Perhaps we could get the same knot in a more practical ivory handle for reasonable money if enough of us went for it. I'd be in.

I must say that the design isn't to my taste. Neo has made me a brush that is currently in my wife's possession, ready to be given to me as a Christmas present. I'll post a pic. Look out for it here at around 5.30am on xmas day! :D

What happened to the brush that I thought Fozz was organising for TSR members? Have I missed something.......and do I need to start looking elsewhere for Christmas pressie for HWMOM?

These are two different brushes SA.

No, no one has missed anything regarding the SOC ( Semogue Owners Club ) custom brush. A mock up of the brush is being trialled as we speak & from what i have read will get the thumbs up anytime now for Semogue to start manufacturing them. They should be ready in time for X-mas.

I will update when there is something more concrete.

I have already been approached by a vendor about a Rooney TSR brush, this was at the start of the forum some months ago but I haven't looked into it yet.I think it was the same as the SMF custom brush but don't quote me on that.

It seems that Rooney makes some fine brushes (if you believe everything said across the pond), but in the UK we just do not have easy access to them. I think a limited edition brush priced competively would be a great way for Rooney to win back some favour on ots home turf.
