Mine's definitely yogurt-like, I like it wet and sloppy for maximum lubrication.

Agree - for face lathering wet and sloppy is the way to lubrication. Some soaps dry too quickly on the skin when you're shaving slowly, and more water certainly gets the lubrication back again.

I find some creams like water others tend to be hydrophobic about it. I have one or two which will quite happily get absorbed by my skin and find the only way to use them is to apply in small quantities. Wet and sloppy.

As for consistency, I'm one of those who look for the pearlescent sheen. May be we need a return to the 'lather shots'

I must admit, I've never really understood lather cushioning.
It sounds suspiciously like an Americanism.
Is that something people like when they bounce the razor blade across their face?
