Karve New Titanium Razor - Coming on the 1st May

I can see the benefits of using titanium in a bike frame, for example, in terms of providing strength and rigidity with low weight, although I much prefer the feel of a steel frame myself. But I agree with Bogeyman that it just doesn't seem to bring any clear benefits to the safety razor game, even in terms of bling value. Shiny stainless or rhodium, or bronze/brass with some nice patina, looks much better to me.

It is light and shiny, so you can make a razor with the feel of a light weight Razor and the Shinny Quality of Stainless. In the case of the Karve above of course they have gone for a mat finish , but I guess you can't do that kind of Finish on aluminium.

I've got to be honest and say that personally I prefer the handle design on the present models over this. It would be nice if there was a choice of handle designs.

Probably going to sound negative here, but I wish Karve would concentrate on fulfilling orders, rather than creating new projects. I've read lots of complaints of people who ordered the polished stainless steel razors on black Friday, and had money taken and still haven't received them.

The benefit of the Titanium is reduction of weight and durability if dropped in the sink. Sure you can have a light razor with aluminium, but once dropped, the damage will be significant compared to the titanium.
Some razors like the Timeless brass shave different when you have a lighter handle on it. The shave is not as aggressive. Anyways, this is not my cup of tea...

I wouldn't be holding my breath of this release. I have had two bad experiences buying from this guy. Just recently he offered me and many others a 100 CAD discount code as well as free US/CA shipping. The codes were transferable so I gave my codes away free to another forum member. Beware when the site says "add to cart" which you would think he will ship within several days. Just the opposite as he is just starting production but remember he has your money. I hope on this release I am wrong. Just a heads up.

The type of metal used for a razor is about as important to its performance as an automobile's paint scheme is to its performance.

Rubbish.

It is well known fact red cars go faster, and more so if there is a white stripe front to back.

I can't see any obvious benefit from titanium in terms of a razor other than it will be a dull dour object and cost the earth.

Light weight is a huge plus for outdoors trips. Ultra-light is the game nowadays. I've got a tent which laughs at force 8 gales but weighs less than 2lbs.

DE shaving in the wild is probably a very small market though...
