Kai Blades

No experience personally with any Kai DE blades, but the Kai Captain Titan Mild (Pinks) are great SE blades. Very forgiving and pretty smooth. I, personally, find Feather Pro's or Pro Super's preferable at the minute, but will definitely be cracking out my Claymore with a Kai Pink soon!

I started using Kai DE blades earlier in the year in my Muhle R89 and I think they're brilliant. Sharp but smooth and very efficient if that makes sense - 2 passes was enough. I also find they have good longevity so whilst they cost more one blade did me for a week of daily use.

I'm trying them in my ATT R1 and I'm undecided as they aren't as smooth. GSB are winning in that razor at the moment. I haven't had it long so still trying blades out with it.

I like them a lot but I think the GSB is just as good imo and cheaper but I don't like to recommend blades because they're so subjective.

They are very very good. Smooth but efficient and sharp. They'll show you the flaws and pros off your gear because they are analytical. Great feedback. They are also durable. Expensive though.

I don't like them. I find them quite rough and uncomfortable, and they shave no better than blades that cost a quarter of the price. Blades are such a personal thing, so YMMV.
You see, that's exactly why I don't like to recommend DE blades, I find them very smooth.
I've seen people who really like Derby and Personna and I'd find it kinder to take a blowtorch to my face than use either of those. :)

In part blades are such a YMMV thing because nobody speaks to how long they use a particular blade, and a blade edge changes as the coating and edge wears. One and done? A week? Til it tugs? Shave your head? Thus Feather may have greater initial sharpness but after three beard shaves (or one head and beard) may be no sharper than blade x. Without this context blade "they're sharp" (or not) ratings are all but meaningless. Kai blades, though not the most sharp initially, are said to stay quite sharp a lot longer than many blades but if you are s bin em at three guy you'd never know that and might judge them inferior to Feather.

Kai are well worth trying if you want something as sharp as a Feather but slightly smoother & longer lasting.
The only downside for me is the cost. 90 blades is going to set you back around £40, wherever you look.
I get 6x3 pass shaves per blade with these with no deterioration in the shave.

I'm midway through a pack at the moment and i'm not that impressed, my benchmark blade is a Feather, and whilst the Kai's feel as sharp they are no where near as smooth for me, and they don't last me as long as a Feather either, just 2 shaves compared to 3 from a Feather. I'm also finding that they are suited to a mild razor better than an aggressive one comparing across 3 different razors, being an R41, Fatip Grande and the ES Braveheart. I'm going to try the last two that i have in a Gillette Tech and an old type, i think they may suit the Tech quite well, but i won't buy any more.

Absolutely on the Kai Captain for SE's. A wonderful blade.

As for their DE blades I found them a great edge which gave a great shave. A better useable life than a Feather. Very much liked here. And then someone introduced me to the Polsilver Lodz

Since I wrote that I did actually try out Kai Blades. Noted immediately that they're slightly wider and thus more noticeable in milder razors. A nice blade but I'm happy enough with Polsilver SI, Nacet, Ladas, Voskhod etc. to not warrant a purchase of the Kai.

I also find they tend to be rather thicker than most blades out there which probably helps with their longevity and find they take to hand stropping kindly.

I also like the fact they have naff all written on them to say what they are. Minimalism which I like

Feather blades are great but found down the years they are very inconsistent in quality. Three shaves is about the max I can get on the useability stakes. I used to kid myself I could get more but in reality I wasn't doing my face any good.
