Just ordered the Muhle R96...

Hello Gents,

I've just ordered the Muhle R96 from Connaught- they verified that they are selling the version 3. My question is about the handle. Is the black handle an enamel or has it been electroplated? Also, if anyone's tried it, how's the shave?

Hi, per see descriptions, the handle has been electroplated and the coating will not peel .

When I first used it, it felt rough but after using it several times, it was really comfortable and gave a clise shave after 2 passes. You need to use no pressure and I very seldom nick my face. No irritation.
 
Thanks for the reply! Yes, I was hoping it would be electroplated like the rose gold handle- excellent. I guess getting the head angle is key in getting a good shave. Sounds like you were able to get it down. Take care and happy shaving!
 
I'm several shaves in now with this razor and have to say that I'm very impressed! The handle is expertly done and looks great- better than I'd hoped. It also holds firm when wet. The head design is attractive and holds high tolerances, no wiggling of the blade- nice and secure. There is definitely blade feel and the aggressiveness is indeed right about mid way between the R89 and 2013 R41. Great weight and balance as well. I highly recommend this razor to anyone who is thinking about pulling the trigger and can't imagine anyone being dissatisfied. 2-3 passes and BBS. Well done Muhle!
