Humble by comparison, but have always wanted to have a go with this...View attachment 50350
I wish I had known - I could have sent you one. I just can't seem to avoid picking them up in Spain - they are cheap anywhere - but irresistibly so there. In my opinion it deserves the good reputation it enjoys. A solid performing soap. The La Toja cream in tubes - normal or sensitive - are worth a go too. As pointed out by @Palmolive fox - the aftershave is excellent - 'old school' and does the job well for a good price. I'd consider La Toja balm in the same category - there are at least three types. The company used to make a legendary hard soap called La Toja Manantiales - regrettably - long since gone - discontinued around 2010 I think - I remember seeing it in the mid-90's when I first started going to Spain - unfortunately I had not 'seen the light' about shaving at that point - otherwise I would have bought as much as I could have carried. If you had some to sell you would get stupid money for it these days. The packaging was unusual - a wooden jar with a cork seal - the performance was often considered in the Tabac, Speick or Valobra category. La Toja still use the brand but only for mainstream stuff - shaving gel, deodorant and the like. I hope you like the stick - cheers - I.

That's a great write up. I have a lot of love for shaving sticks and I never knew about the Manantiales soap, which with the cork looks a bit like the Sebum soap the guys at ATG seem to really like. Unless Proraso start making the Valobra soaps to the same quality as before, I can see existing stocks of those soaps going the the same way.

I think Spain have some great 'everyday' shaving items, like the ones by LaToja, Floid and Lea.

Thanks for this, Iain. I'll give it a bash later on today. S.

I love the balm! Better even than proraso ones! I have 2 tubes of cream awaiting to be tested! The prices in Lisbon (El corte ingles shopping was the only place that was available) were a bit expensive!

Excellent price! I thought I was doing well getting 200ml off the Bay for £18.99

These Boyes stores seem to be endemic to East Midlands and South Yorkshire, Stephen

I think I might pick up a couple more to stash away

They also had Brut Original, Sport Style and Musk, all for £2 each
Calvin Klein Obsession Aftershave at £20
I spotted some Rapport Aftershave too - seems to ring a bell within my grey matter ?

Hi guys,

So my new old Travel Razors arrived today from Hax, I'm very pleased with them and thought I'de share.

I would love to be able to identify all four, but I suspect that's not possible.

So there is definitely a Gillette England Head, but I wonder if the handle belongs to the head, I can't seem to find a match, the case almost certainly doesn't.

There is a Hoffritz which I have begun to remove the rust and putting from, it I can get this back I plan to have it replaced.

There is one which I suspect is a copy of the Hoffritz and in the best overall condition, my shave for tonight intact.

And another one, which is very intriguing, again I wonder if the handle belongs with the razor and even if the two razor parts belong together it says only ERMANY ;) the G didn't stick around I guess the box it was in has two letters inscribed, which I will post tomorrow to see if anyone can make head or tail of.

Time to go Shave ;)
