Injector Blades

My understanding is that the hair shaper and injector personna are the same. At least to me they shave the same

Thanks.

I was getting a bit carried away by @Bogeyman's $6/£4.85 for 20 Mini Hair Shapers. Since 20 of the "proper" injector dispenser type cost just £6 from Connaughts, there's not a world of price difference and none of the fiddling about.

I think I'll let this sleeping dog lie.

I slipped a new vintage Schick Plus Platinum in the I 2 and had a whirl today. Fantastic shave for sure. However, I won't throw the baby out with the bath water here regarding the current Personna blade. It is sharper IMO, but the Schick may be just a tad smoother. I don't think that's because technology was better circa. 1970, but rather that today they hone blades better as well as better coatings/sputterings.

I recently snagged a NOS NIB mag of USA made Gillette Platinum Plus injector blades and will be trying one soon. If they shave just like the DE Gillette Platinum Plus blade then I will be happy. Nowadays, these are not exactly "low hanging fruit" in the injector design and damned hard to find.

So, I finally shaved with one of the elusive USA made Gillette Platinum Plus injector blades in concert with Haslinger Schafmilch Shaving Soap and here is my 2 cents worth for now: It was a superb shave, but I violated a cardinal rule of objectivity by using two unknowns at the same time, having used the Haslinger only once before. That said, it was an extremely excellent shave using my I 2 Schick razor.

It's a very good blade, but it would be a disservice to pass judgment so quickly. Regardless, it & the Schick Plus Platinum are neck & neck IMO with perhaps the Schick just edging it out in smoothness & the Gillette in sharpness if that makes sense to those who have used these.

FWIW, I "scythed" down a three day beard today with the same aforementioned blade using a Stirling shave soap and this setup is simply amazing!! Surely, as some more seasoned injector shavers have stated, the added rigidity of the injector blade is to be credited for this coupled with the superb NOS Gillette blade. I wish I had a gross or two of the NOS Plat Plus & Plus Plat injector blades. :(

Good blades.

FB, these Euro Schick blades will have a tough act to follow in the Gillette Platinum Plus blade as I just hacked down a 3½ day beard with the latter and it is still going strong after four shaves. Regardless of brand, these "Golden Age" NOS injector blades are simply a joy to use. Since they are finite I feel as if I am almost killing an endangered species with each usage. :D ;)

Yep. those old Gillette blades are great, with em being extremely sharp yet still forgiving. Maybe 5 years ago I first ran into some in the wild and loved those from the start. Hah, it was at a flea market and there was a NOS box of 12 sealed packs of 11 blades each, with only 11 packs remaining for a total of 121 blades. Priced at $5 for the whole box, the seller immediately went to $2, seeing as how he was probably shocked anyone would be interested in those old things from the early 70s.

The Dutch Schicks are real sharp but take more paying attention to detail for the first few shaves. Billie sent me some a while ago and coincidentally there's one in my adjustable right now, with the number being set one lower than usual. .

One other injector blade you need to try at some point is the Personna74 version. Probably the sharpest injector blade or seems that way to me. Not very forgiving with a possible 15 excellent shaves or more per blade. These are a little too much for me...kinda like a Feather DE blade can be in certain razors. Most people love these things which is why they go for crazy money

Mr Smartypants got a crapload of those Gillettes last year and he really likes em too. Might be interested if you have something to trade.

Yes, the first shave was somewhat harsh and the blade is extremely sharp for sure. I didn't get the smoothness I get with the Schick Plus Platinum or even that which the Super Chromium blades impart for that matter. We'll see what the future holds.

2nd shave with this Euro blade and I have to say that to my face it imparts far less smoothness than other NOS blades. I did manage to snag some Dutch Schick Super Stainless injector blades and will try those soon.
