Ikon Veteran Razor Troubles

Good evening all,
I am struggling to get a decent shave with the Ikon Veteran razor. It may be too aggressive for my old tired skin. However, is there anything that could be done to improve the shave before I contemplate trading.
I use correct technique and angle and also use a pre shave every day along with usually a Goodfellas soap and moisturise after.

Which 'veteran' Ikon do you have?

I'm a regular user of their black B1 SB razor and indeed it is aggressive but I find it delivers a great shave (read the best I have experienced) and takes a bit of a kid gloves approach. The angle is a little steeper than most razors and takes a bit of experimentation to find and a bit of practice to get use to it.

I can happily fling it about my face confidently and it is very rare I ever get a serious nick. If I do I tend to put it more down to the blade than the razor.

I found it to be quite blade fussy and doesn't take kindly to Feathers which tilt it towards the very aggressive side and just doesn't really work. I am a bit of a bore here but I find Polsilver Lodz are by far the best match and I use nothing else now except the odd outing with a Kai which also pairs nicely. In general don't use a blade which hasn't a reputation for being ultra sharp.

Altogether the best bit of kit I have in my shaving hardware and if I had to have just the one razor this would be it.

The open comb version is an absolute fluffy little kitten and I found it far too mild for my liking. Hence why I ask if you know which one you have. Or of course something I have never come across.

Hi there I have this one https://www.executive-shaving.co.uk/ikon-vet-limited-edition-dual-head-safety-razor
I believe based on the sbs head

Definitely not the same as I use but there are plenty of their dual head users around. From what I understand they do perform in a similar manner to the B1's ie. The OC is mild while the SB leans towards the aggressive.

Try backing off on the shaving angle a touch as I would imagine the geometry to be be pretty much the same.

Do you get different shave with the 2 different sides?

If you want to try some different blades I'd be happy to send some samples on to you

One side is a plus so more aggressive and the other is normal. I have it up for sale or trade now. I have tried plenty of different blades but think it's too aggressive
