iKon Open-Comb Deluxe Head with black B1 coating on OSS Handle on MASSDROP

Thanks, Paul.

I rather thought (and hoped) the baseplate would be the same. If you'd had other DLC Open Comb basepates in stock at Connaught I would undoubtedly have bought one more as a spare. I wasn't sure about the top caps being the same but am pleased to hear that because the combination works so well for me and I'm happy to have a spare top cap too. And on top of that it comes with an OSS handle which, considering the price on MD, isn't bad. If I get hit for charges on top of the £65 then I'll have to grin and bear it.

It reached the required level today on MD so it looks like it'll complete.

Thanks.
The Feather top cap (AS-D2, WS-D1) will not work on the OSS plate, that is the only complication. The DLC & B1 parts are interchangeable & very similar in their glossy black finish.

That was a bit of luck! Just arrived here and no sign of a ransom note. So it did turn out to be around £65 delivered for a rather nice Ikon Open Comb B1 De luxe stainless jobbie. Lovely shiny black head and beautifully machined stainless OSS handle. Excellent packaging and quickly sent. Well done Massdrop. Arrived too late for an outing today so it must wait. The bonus is I can use the baseplate on the Feather AS-D2 so, along with the (pretty much identical) DLC baseplate supplied by Connaught recently I think they'll see me out.

Following a recent swap wherein I exchanged my ATT S2 head for an R2 head I feel happy and settled with the armoury and I honestly think it's time to call a halt to any more razors purchases. No Blackbird and no Wolfman.

OK, I was lying about the Wolfman but while it's so elusive my money's safe, I think.

Ah....Martin, you've just instilled doubt in my mind.

It was DHL that delivered it...the tracking page is theirs and at some point the DHL label had a Deutsche Post one stuck on top. I think this was the same re. delivery of the Feather...and that one DID get hit. In both cases the local RM postie delivered it (signed for).

The Customs declaration on the package does clearly say it was sourced in the US and the value is USD89.99.

UPDATE. Just checked the actual amount taken from the credit card.....£67.90. Not the £65 I estimated. And that was paying using a standard credit card...not PayPal, which I understand takes even more in conversion charges.

Hoping I'm as lucky! Whenever I've had a customs charge from RM I've only been delivered the card and had to collect from the office. Parcelforce are worse though, you get the letter...

Hello, Avnish.... you specifically mention the baseplate. Apart from having theB1 finish instead of DLC It's exactly the same as the Ikon DLC Open Comb Deluxe baseplate that Connaught WAS selling for £30 (now regrettably OOS). As you'll prob. remember I got the DLC baseplate to substitute the stock one on the AS-D2 and it works a treat in increasing the closeness. The stock Feather plate does give a great, easy going, relaxed and blood free shave but unless used with a brand new Feather blade it seem that you need to shave again sooner than with the Ikon plate...and certainly sooner than a nice new Polsilver in the 2013 R41 (as was used this morning and was sublime).

Three shaves with the new Ikon Open Comb Deluxe B1 with OSS stainless handle.

This really, really, does feel nice. I'm fairly sure it'll be even better (for me) than the B1 Slant version - which, I suspect, it a tad more aggressive but still quite superb.

It makes no attempt to remove your face at all....you could even call it rather mild however it has given me three utterly delightful and extremely close shaves....beautifully close in fact (with the Polsilver) but so, so, comfortable.

I'm truly rather lucky to have all these lovely tools to shave with.

The pre and post shave rituals continue in varied forms. The only consistent factor being how I seem to be in the bathroom for a lot longer than was the case before you lot got me tied up in this affair.
