I was a little underwhelmed with his particular boar when I recieved it last year, it didn't seem dense enough, or scrubby or have a huge amount of backbone and it shed a bit, but with increased usage the tips have broken in and it's delightfully soft, it's very efficient for soap usage, doesn't hold all of it's lather in the middle of the brush, very easy to build a lather and apply the later for additional passes.

Not the most exciting brush by any stretch of the imagination but it's my favourite brush.

There seem to be a lot of mentions for badgers, synths, boars like Semogue and Zenith but there don't seem to be a lot of vocal voices declaring their love for the humble Omega boar brush. Well here is mine.

It's a Omega 11819, which has the same knot as the 10065/10066 - with the a 24mm knot, 55mm loft.

Are there any other Omega boar brush fans in 2020? If not an Omega boar then whichever boar you are enjoying the most.

I'm with you on this one. I have a Proraso professional boar brush, it was my first ever wet shaving brush and I often find when I get a new soap its the go to brush because I know it...I know how to whip a lather up with it so I know I can rely on its results.

Have recently got a Chubby2 which may be my go to down the line...who knows, but yea! I'm a fan of the boar.

As with all things shaving ....things go in waves.Omega do lots of great boars......they are just not flavour of the month/day/hour/minute at the moment. I have quite a few and they are almost mandatory for Italian Barbershop type soaps.

I love my Proraso Omega boar. It was my first brush* and it's brilliant. I wonder why I don't use it more then I remember the battalion of brushes I have staring at me before each shave.

*Technically speaking, the Wilkinson Sword brush was my first brush but that shedding disappointment doesn't count!

I've enjoyed Omega boars, but my favorite boar is one that I recently put together. The knot is THIS.

Holy smokes, that brush is a stunner! Great looking knot, it looks quite dense as well - I imagine the backbone must be pretty good? A very neat and tidy selection of blades you have there as well. Good to see some of the classic shaving soaps as well like Proraso Green, Arko and Williams.

I had the very same Wilk Sword boar and mine was a stinker, maybe the brush itself wasn't that bad but I didn't enjoy using that much as my technique wasn't the best. The Proraso boar seems a classic.

Yeah you're right, there are always flavours of the month for shaving products. Right now it seems Yaqi and some other budget synths seem to be incredibly popular, and quite rightly so, as a brush like not only is superb value for money but they are almost impossible to make a bad lather with (even though I have!).

It's great to have a go to brush for a new soap, mine was a Yaqi synth for a quite a bit of time but I've found my way back to my Omega boar.

Enjoy the Chubby2, it's good to have variety!

Thank you sir! Yes, the knot is full and firm, and even set at 58.5mm loft it has plenty of scritch, scrub and backbone. The tried and true simple soaps work best for me, it's all about performance, not scent IMO.

Here. My Proraso has become (through intense use) the best brush I have in terms of performance. I do own a 49 as well which is a beast. Unfortunately, I had to recently bin my 10065 after having realised that despite it being fully broken in it was holding a very unpleasant scratchiness in the middle of the knot, and the funky smell never fade whatsoever. So now I have 2 Omega boar and 2 Semogue. I don't compare the two as they are different and love both brands. I was actually looking for a small omega to replace my bad 10065. May I ask where did you get this one? It seems a new edition (?) I've never saw that handle and it looks very nice

The dimensions of the brush seem about perfect. I'm with you about the time tested classics, aside from not being able to use heavily scented soaps as they make my face burn I find the performance/post shave qualities of soaps like Proraso, Palmolive, Vitos and MWF to be the ones that I reach for the most.

Your Omega 10065 sounds a lot like a 80265 I had which had the same kind of scratchiness, I've had a few Omega boars and they suffer issues with consistency it seems, but they are cheap enough for it to not matter too much. Good to hear the Proraso & 49's perform well though!

I bought my 11819 from Dambiro, who's prices are great and the shipping is around 8 Euros for a few kgs of goods. If you do find yourself placing an order at Dambiro, I'd recommend adding a Omega 10075 to your order which is a just under 4 Euros for the brush and it's not got the best handle but the knot is 23mm, 48mm scrubby little monster.

My first favourite brushes were Omega boars, but the acrylic handles crack and break too easily. The last one I ordered was wood, however I was impressed by the new synthetics. My RR Plissoft has just been replaced by a Yaqi Sagrada Familia.

i use boars mainly by choice ,both omega & semouge & vulfix tried badger ,not impressed gave them away !!! also in rotation is a horse & a synth . no complaints with the synth or horse ,i just seem to prefer boar,s with a short loft of 55mm or less . i face lather because anything else is heresy!!!!! one to stay away from is the kent boars mine fell apart in 6 months .. not happy :cautious: you can,t really beat the omegas for value & availability tho...

I still love my boar brushes..My beloved Omegas & Semogues & not forgetting my horsehair brushes too, will always be a welcome in my shaving den. However, i equally like my Synthetic brushes too. I like to use both.
