How to shave using a soap?

I know, perhaps a silly question.
I'm more of a creams person but when I did use soap, it would be the big black bowls from the supermarkets.

Is the principle the same?
Wet brush and stir?
No need for a lather bowl?

Load the soap on to your damp brush with medium+ pressure and then build the lather on your face - noting it will take a little more water than your creams. Load times can vary between 10 and 30 seconds depending on the consistency of the soap.

Try a shaving stick if you don't want to bother with a bowl.
