After the purchase of two pairs of HIUT jeans last year I have given what ever else I had (bar one pair) to charity and don't wear anything else. The build and material quality is the best I have ever come across in a pair of jeans, and as for wear, out of this world. They also make any repairs/adjustments free of charge and in my case they are putting 6 brace buttons on as a freebie.

The only bug bear I would say is their recommendation of not washing for at least 6 months. I went 9 before I gave in and my second pair I am seeing if I can hold out for at least a year. If not even longer.

I am absolutely made up with everything about them. They ain't cheap but I am thinking they will go quite some years before they start to show any wear and tear, but with a free repair service who cares?

Anyone else wear HIUTs?

Would love to see a photo of the ones you have worn in.

I have just bought a pair and they look great although really stiff, like cardboard. How long was it before they softened up for you ?

Probably quite a few months of near enough continual wear. Indeed very stiff and possibly worse than cardboard.

Amazingly the pair which have just gone back for the brace buttons barely showed any signs of wear after 9 months without a wash and came out the other side looking very much the same.

Present pair after about 9 months and no washing to date

thanks, they look great. The stiffness is the only issue for me as i have ton wear a suit or trousers most days so they will not get regular wear. Might have to try a wash.

The other pair didn't really change that much after a wash and I will say they are an absolute bugger to iron. I thought much the same at the start but you just get kind of used to it as they 'shape in' to the way you wear them. They are a bit warm at first though and the summer weather won't help much. Saying that, 'what summer?' I think if you bear with them the stiffness will slowly disappear and you won't really notice any change.

I like their business idea. I'm not sure on the never washing though. don't they start to hum a bit?

Not in particular but guess if you want to roll around in manure all day long or have an incontinence issue then may be.

Or of course you could just ignore their six month before washing principle

Not cheap but you'll be hard pressed to find any jeans better made than Iron Heart

Heavy selvedge denim made in Japan. I've got a pair that have lasted years so far with plenty more wear left in them. The Huit selvedge is 14.5oz the Iron Hearts are mostly 17+ which makes them harder wearing although not very comfortable for the first few weeks while the denim "breaks in".
