Hi everyone

Hi there @Omer
And
welcome dracula GIF

Thanks. That does sound interesting and I'm happy to try anything. Last Sunday I tried my most trusted DE set up in the hope of restarting this little hobby. But the shave didn't go well and I had to get the disposable out to finish it. My DE shaving skill level was previously at a point where I very rarely cut myself but on Sunday it was like going back to my beginner days. Not exactly a bloodbath but enough to know that it's time to pack up and move on.

Let me know what you're thinking. If it's as easy and bloodless as a Gillette Blue 3 disposable, I'll give it a go.

Thanks again.
I'll get back to you on that this evening to mention some specific pivoting1/2 DE razors - hopefully I'll have time. Maybe others will point some out between now and then.

Here are a few options which you could consider. They are easy and generally bloodless to shave with, but some are more fiddly than others to put the blade(s) in. Another point is that some have much bigger heads than a disposable and so wouldn't be so good under the nose.

  • [li]Leaf Razor (big head, up to three half blades)[/li]
    [li]High Proof Razor (small head)[/li]
[li]Broman Mark 2 (pre-order for May, smaller head than mark 1) or mark 1 if you can find one anywhere[/li]
    [li]Focus pivoting razor[/li]

I'm sure to be missing some, so maybe others can chime in with suggestions. Also this Sharpologist article may interest you. If you're considering any of these you could ask questions to get a better idea in more detail.

@havings - Thanks for the suggestions. I'll certainly look into them especially the 3 half-blade one which looks weird and wonderful. You're post reminded me of the Gillette Permatik SE disposables that I picked up in Turkey last year. Took one for a spin this morning and it was pretty good for a couple of passes but no chance of an atg pass for me. Very easy and smooth even with the open comb head design which I'm not normally a fan of. It actually gives me something to compare against in terms of head size when I look into the non-disposable SE razors you've told me about.

ok, fyi, I took the plunge and ordered a Leaf Twig from Agent Shave. Plus some soaps and other stuff I don't really need. Just when you think you're out, you get sucked back in again! Looking forward to the new razor though.

Oh! The Leaf I was on about, which I linked to in one of my posts was the Leaf Leaf rather than the Leaf Twig. I hope the twig is for you!
