Hello everyone!

I'm the same ref the blades. Proper Schick blades are a joy to use. I'm on holiday at the moment, and I brought the Schick E3 with me, and it's a joy.

It took me a while to get to that conclusion, but totally agreed.

How does your Schick E3 (I came close to buying one a while ago) compare to Schick ‘L' Type? A milder or more efficient shave?

So it's supposed to be milder than the E, but I haven't tried it. The E and L are made by different companies, or at least by different owners of the company.
When I started shaving, I used to favour aggressive razors. Now my technique is good, milder are preferable. To give you some bench marks, I use plate B (open comb and straight bar) on my Karve, have previously favoured plate 3 on a Rockwell, and the lower numbers on Gillette and Merkur adjustables. The Schick E suits me well. If the L is genuinely milder, which I believe it is, then it's a bit too mild for me.

Interesting... I went from mild to aggressive (yes you Fatip Piccolo... what a blood bath that was), then mild again for ages. I used to love my Gillette Techs (especially the ball end handle). But even with a Feather, my resultant shave was always patchy no matter how many passes I made, and obviously more irritation. I had more patchy shaves with PAA DOC (again I really loved this razor at the time), and the list goes on.

Coupling a sharp blade with a mild razor hasn't worked for my beard and skin texture. Although the Karve is still an enigma to me. Certainly my Gillette Fat Boy (with a Feather), Gillette Guard, Gillette Excel Sensor, PAA Alpha Ecliptic (not decided which blade is best yet) all work pretty well for me with few razor bumps/ingrown hairs. But my Supply (Plate 2 with a Schick Injector B-20 Blade) is in the lead with little to no razor bumps/ingrown hairs. I starting to understand why so many guys love vintage Schicks.

Bloody hell, no one can say you have not tried mate. Stick with it I am sure you will improve your technique and everything will just click. I hope so anyway.
Good luck mate,
Tony
Thank you for the encouragement. I believe I'm getting closer to the perfect shave (at least for me!).
