Have booked a shave at Trumpers!

Nice one. I would definitely like to know how you got on. I'm tempted to get a shave before my wedding next year, but i'll really want to go at least once before just to make sure they don't butcher me beautiful visage or straight shaving isn't for me. I'm sure they wont, but if I roll up on the big day with a rash or nicks, my wife-to-be will kick my arse.

I'm curious to know the quality of the haircuts, too. I would imagine they have pretty enviable skills but I don't tend to have "classic" hairstyles and i'm not sure they cater for my... "end of the market." If it goes pear and I roll up on the big day with a shaved head, my wife-to-be will kick my arse.

I am booked in at 11am on Fri 31st (Curzon st), if anyone else wants to do the same. Pint after?

JDE, I am very prone to ingrowns and rash so if I am ok after you should be ok for your big day.

OK I have been for my day out in the big city. (I do live in London but don't get to go 'in' often.

Trumpers, shave and haircut, he shaved first. Skin food followed with a very hot towel steaming with GFT for a few mins. Almond cream with a badger brush. Shavette with a Wilkinson blade, used more pressure than I had expected, re slicked with what felt like skin food and touched up(oo er). I felt sore. A huge alum block was rubbed all over, skin food, wipe, skinfood, new hot towel as before, alum'd Q tip on one spot, and a final coat of moisturiser.

Hair cut was ok, my barber near work seems to take more care and time and does a wash for £9.50. But does not shave.

I bought an Officers and Gentlemens mug and soap set, nearly went fo the rose soap.

Three pints in the sun with my book and the razor lobe of my brain was throbbing. Went to Dr Harris and bought some refreshing cologne.
Went to Truffit and bought some 1805 cream and a Trafalgar bath soap, they gave me a catologue, recomended who ask for if I wanted to book a shave and cut and gave me some samples of Clubman and 1805. I'll PIF one of each, PM me.

I think next time I'll try a shave and cut at Truffit, just to compare, my service was great but i felt the shave was rough and cut average.

So that was my day, now going to have beef and YP, aaaah

sounds like a nice day out Zubar, I had a similar shave in Glasgow but must say the shave was the smoothest finish I've ever fely.Rangers can probably confirm but I am sure Luigi uses a shavette and wilkinson blade.Proraso pre/post and a steam machine with pre/post to finish,no alum involved but I felt a million dollars afterwards.Maybe it was the steam machine helping to open the pores? I didn't feel much pressure tbh but chatting with the barber's son beforehand he told me that his dad had been shaving people since he was 17 so maybe experience counts (don't know how long your guy had been shaving people)
Thanks for sharing the experience.
I would like to try out the samples you mentioned so will pm :)

Confirmed. Luigi does use W/S (UK blade mind you) and the products detailed. He has been shaving people for a long time. The brush he uses is an I talian brush, Boar I think. Goes to show I think, experience wins over products.
Zubar will PM you ref samples if it's ok.

Cheers

Ok samples taken! Gannet Squadren strikes!

This am I still have a few sore patches on my neck and jaw line. The guy had been at Trumpers 7 years.
