Haslinger sage

When they're gone they're gone at £4.00 delivered, we will not be restocking these.

I know not your reason, but personally I will never buy another Haslinger soap as quite frankly IMO they caved to the animal rights activists and dropped the tallow. As well, IMO they merely copied Mitchell's Wool Fat for their sheep milk soap and MWF shaves just as good if not better.

The sage has tallow, sheep's milk non. The sheep's milk is superior, super easy to lather, rich and creamy. Same razor and blade. Don't hesitate in buying non tallow versions .

Loving the sheep's milk. Are the various varieties different in how they perform? The marigolds sounds appealing.

Once again, I have to ask. Would the tallow purists really notice the difference on a blind test with a non-tallow soap? All this moral panic, toys out of the pram stuff because of tallow/no tallow is confusing. What does the addition of the ingredient cause in terms of enhancement? Psychosomatic, it seems to me.

...even a cursory glance at some of the posts in the soap threads clearly show, many shavers can tell the difference between tallow and non-tallow versions of a soap including me and yet you seem to repeatedly question other members ability to discriminate the difference between tallow and non-tallow versions of a soap. I do not see anyone having a "moral panic...toys out of the pram". If there is no difference for you between tallow and non tallow versions of a soap or you have an ethical issue, say so, - but why keep questioning and denegrating others who can tell the difference. Your question has been answered many times but you do not accept other members individual experience; why? because it is different to your own? or are you trying to make a different point?...

My purpose is not ‘...to denigrate...'. I merely ask what the difference is. If this has been ‘...answered many times...' etc. please point it out. I'm looking for a qualitative difference between tallow and non-tallow soaps. No ethical issues. For my part, I'm happy to use both.

This clarifies. Thank you.

...other than value, weight, ingredients etc the qualities that many members describe in a soap are subjective not qualitative e.g. - cushion, slickness, residual slickness, post shave feel etc. so I am not sure what qualitative differences you are referring too...

Well, I think a lot of those are shared in common with non-tallow. Just debating that maybe the reaction of discovering a favourite soap has gone non-tallow might not necessitate boycotting it. However, not denying choice, you understand.

...you seem to be missing the point; I agree some non-tallow soaps, perform as well or even better than some tallow soaps but that does not negate other members ability to discriminate regarding differences between tallow and non-tallow versions of a soap especially when they view the tallow version to be better. Do you really think members are exhibiting "moral panic...toys out of the pram stuff...tallow purists" or it is "psychosomatic"...when they do assert a difference in favour of tallow?
