Has anybody bought a new Maseto brush lately?

I have two maseto brushes 24mm & 26mm 2 band finest that I rate highly so I decided to buy another and this time I went for a 30mm 2 band finest badger as the 26mm was out of stock. The brush arrived this week and the first thing I noticed was it didn't come in a maseto box, I remember the maseto box would be inside a standard box. Not a big problem but noticeable.

I was very much looking forward to using the brush, the first observation was that the tips felt too soft and it lacks backbone.... it has less backbone than my 24mm 2 band finest, it feels like Silvertips. After 3 shaves I've decided to send it back. It is a beautiful brush but I really don't like Silvertips. I thought to swap it for a Captain 26mm 2 band Finest but Nick says the Captain has the same hair type as the one I have just received.

I was wondering if anybody has purchased a 2 band Finest and noticed the lack of backbone and tips too soft.

I did say to Nick that I thought he sent me a Silvertip but he didn't reply the question.... maybe Silvertips don't come in 2 bands so no chance to make a mistake.

If I'm honest, I'm convinced I got sent a Silvertip brush.

It's impossible to tell from the picture but because you have other brushes in finest you would be the one to know if something was different, you can get two band silvertips so maybe that's what you've got! P.

This Dr Dittmar brush was sold as 2band silvertip and got less backbone and tips are definitely softer compared to my 2band finest brushes. I like it a lot, not for daily use but for Sunday drives.

Loft? And is it 30 mm wide leaving handle?

The loft is actually spot on with the description at 54mm and 31.7mm wide leaving the handle.

This new brush has the tips noticeable softer than the other two when dry, and softer than other 5 2 band finest by other brush makers. I don't mind the soft tips but the lack of backbone is bothering me, in my head I wasn't expecting less backbone than my 24mm by the same people (Maseto)

Nick says that I could exchange it for the Captain 26mm 2 band Finest but it would be the same hair type.... that puts me off and maybe that's the idea

I've not bought one since they were LS brushes. Quite fancied that long handled one for a while in your photos. I had a Frank Shaving synth with a similar handle years ago which felt nice in the hand but the STF style know was too springy for me.

Those 2 rubberset type handles are favorites of mind, benchmark for 2 band Finest if you like.
