Hair clippers

I went with Andis. Apparently Andis and Oster are the big rivals to Wahl. Watched about 20 fading videos. With the lever it wasn't too hard.

Everyone is buying Wahl because of the brand recognition, they are either over priced or out of stock. According to Camel Camel Camel the Andis and Osters are holding their price consistently and still in stock.

Just ordered a Wahl Peanut cordless hair clipper and trimmer. It comes with 4 combs for buzz cutting. I haven't had my hair cut in 3 months and it's really irking me since I'm used to short hair that requires minimal maintenance. I had a buzz cut 10 years ago and liked it, so I figured a buzz cut would be easier and less subject to operator error than trying my usual short hair cut. Now, all I have to do is convince SWMBO to buzz my noggin.
SWMBO won't touch mine. About 20 years ago I convinced her to clipper my hair. Unfortunately we got confused and thought a number 8 was the 8mm comb. Needles to say I ended up with a severe buzz cut. She threw out the clippers when I wasn't looking and had refused to cut my hair ever since. This time round I am on my own cutting my hair.

The Peanut was out of stock I found out two weeks after placing my order. I bought a Wahl Ambassador instead. SWMBO has buzzed my head twice now: First time she was very tentative and giggly about it, but eventually settled down and did a satisfactory job; her second go was much more confident. We first started with the #4 (1/2”) comb, but because my hair is very fine we found the #3 (3/8”) works best. I quite like my new look and the minimal care it requires. I think I might keep it this way after all this is over; however, I'm not sure SWMBO agrees.

My last haircut was around late January. So my trimmer has paid for itself. But after lockdown I won't be using it again on my head.

Went for the cut yesterday using my trusted Wahl 25 year old clippers. No 06 all over apart from the very top c/w a No 03 tapered around the ears; looks okay after letting it grow for 15 weeks. Took me around 1½ hours to complete the job; patience being the main issue. When cutting yourself, I find it necessary to re-wet the hair several times during the cut and going over it many many times, in order to get the length of cut, even. The 1½ hours also takes into consideration the cleaning up time.
The Wahl's did become rather hot during the process, but held out; perhaps they are not meant to be used consistently for that amount of time - who knows. Really wanted a longer type cut which would have required a professional, but did not fancy going to a barber, even when they do eventually open their doors, tomorrow (I believe). I am still practising social distancing until more is known about how this pandemic is going to pan out when many people will be blowing caution to the wind this weekend!
Happy cutting!
