Anyone have any info of this straight razor maker, all I can find is they may actually be German made and sold in Belgium, but that too may be false, I believe the one I have is 1891 or slightly earlier, but again dating it is difficult without the makers info, I know there are a few about and they are mid range razors, some good ones and some not so good. Anything at all would be helpful at this time...tia.

The razor arrived this morning and in better shape than I expected, yes there was rust and slight watermarks and grime, I got stuck into it earlier this evening and again it brushed up better than I hoped, the box really was the thing that interested me tho, it is dated 1897 in pen, but I have no reason to disbelieve that, the razor has a lead wedge and looks the right timeframe.
So, the blade was really dull and I gave it the full array of stones that I thought would do the job , 1K...3K...5K...8K...12K then finished on a Escher, and continued with the Escher under slow running water until it went sticky, I increased the water flow and gave it around 50 more laps, 20 laps on pastes balsa then 150 on leather, it felt good so onto the shave, it really did shave superbly, I was quite surprised really, but very happy, I am looking forward to use it again,
The picture is before the cleanup and hone, this is how it arrived.

No no no... my bad, the foto was after the cleanup but before the hone

Someone (cant remember who...sorry) gave me the name of a guy From Solingen who worked in the industry, and was very knowledgeable in all razor types...so I contacted him and he asked for fotos from all sides, I sent them off, he replied with all the info that he had which was very adequate and fulfilled my inquisitiveness, the dates were spot on and the german maker was also spot on, they were made for a belgian trader (Botte) who was a big name at the time selling razors, I wont go into it all but I am so glad to finally get the right info.
