Right that's the pics done. It's an I4 so a few months younger than I am and in much better nick.... :?
Very pleased with it, looks as if it's never been used. Everything is tight, shiny and the knurling is sharp.
Lets see how it shaves.

Post First Shave.
Well that just confirms all the good things I've previously read about the razor I used to watch my Dad shave with many years ago.
Very comfy handling, light, easy to drive around my face in comparison to my HD. Hardly felt the blade at all.
I used a Swede which has been my blade of choice for a long time rather than try a Super Iridium which I recently started out testing.
Same passes as my HD gave me a better result and a more comfortable experience so I have to conclude that for me at least, the milder action of the SS is better suited to
my needs although I never considered the HD aggressive prior to this. Super smooth feel and super smooth result.
I just hope this doesn't herald the dawn of yet another collecting spree....hmmm, red tip next?

I paired mine with a feather, which I find gives the perfect combination of smoothness and close-shaving.

Should we be cleaning these classics with something to remove soap etc every week or so?

This thread reminds me that I have a 1940s SS. Along with my 1918 Single Ring, the only vintage survivor of the collecting mania. (I'm good at selling too!)

It's coming out for the weekend.
Where's those Feathers?

Re stripping down a superspeed - I saw a very detailed post by CooncatBob on B&B, but can't find it....

It's called something like "how to take apart a superspeed" ...

All you need a the correct shape screwdriver for the end of the razor, dependant ont he age of the razor.

Found it:
