Good Smart/Casual Trousers

Can anyone recommend anywhere to get some good smart casual trousers?

I'll be working in an office but it's pretty laid back. Not quite casual although every Friday is dress down Friday.

I hate skinny and slim stuff, which has been the fashion for quite a number of years now. And although I'm in my mid 30s, I'm finding the draw of Marks and Spencers pulls me in.

Can't really afford to spend £50 on a pair - Asda for example have chinos for £15, Next have some for £25.

To be honest, I quite like the ones Justin wears at his house:

Don't laugh! Ha ha.

So can anyone recommend any retailer that isn't Burton, Next or any of the well known brands like them that do normal "straight" chinos?

Cheers!

Cotton Traders seem reasonably priced
Straight leg Chino's for £28

Sabre may well have something to contribute to this thread, but I would also recommend reading the following threads: A Celebration of Chinos and Old Man's Trousers, which may give you some leads on this subject. Sabre recommended Land's End Chinos for me, which I have full intention of following up at some time in the future or when their latest brochure comes through the letterbox.
I agree with you about the skinny leg style, which, in my opinion is really only for the "quite" young. I prefer chinos with a fuller pleated cut. I then tailor out the two pleats to make one larger inverted pleat (on each leg) and then have short cut tapers down to 15"; which is the style that I prefer.
With reference to Paul L's post above; Peter Christian also do many of it's trousers with an elasticated waist, if this is your particular preference.

Craghoppers, either lined ones for winter....which are excellent, or plain navy or black unlined, they dry very quickly if you get caught in rain, and have plenty pockets, I have four pairs now which include ones that zip off at the knee to turn em into shorts.

Do they dry very quickly because they are polyester rich?

Only at the end of season. Pleated at £25.00 seems reasonable, non pleated at £33.00 seems higher than average.
Yes, £25.00 does seem good; only just noticed that they only have size 31 in the light stone, so no god for me unfortunately.

Said Chinos arrived today; very good; will need to taper them down at the hem to my signature 7½" (15" round; 7½ flat); but need to do that with all standard trouser purchases. Usually also have the double pleats converted into a single pleat, but not necessary with these.
O/a an excellent buy, thanks again for the tip!
