Good riddance to DE shaving!

I am going back to cartridge shaving. Gillette Sensor (original) and Wilkinson Sword Hydro 3 both give me a closer shave than DE (tried Personna & others which are considered sharp).

Edwin Jagger and the Parker are going in the bin as I am tired of getting cuts and un-close shaves!

What a mugs game... you can keep DE shaving!

Well it is your loss on leaving this forum. More to shaving than just the equipment you use.

Aye, it's a braw bird the puddock.

Shave your face with what you want. This place ain't DE, SE, Straight, Cartridge or knapped Obsidian exclusive. Use your Sensor or your Mach 3 and post your SotD. Try other cartridge razors like the Feather or KOS and tell us about them. Why not? 'Tis a great place this, after all, they even put up with me!

Give up on DE if you want - ain't nobody forcing you and as Vinny says, cartridges work better for him but he's still around and has a lot of good stuff to say.

Anyhoo, yer choice, fella.

(Crikey, have I just made a sensible post? Note that down someone and record it for posterity.)

You don't HAVE to leave because you're not DE shaving.

Shavers come, shavers go ... But the shave (by any means) goes on. Just to divert a thread which has remained astonishingly on topic thus far for this forum, has anyone any idea who has hacked Gairdiner's registration and is trying to defame him by posting common sense ? Come back to us my friend !

I hear you, I tried with using a straight but couldn't maintain the edge well enough to keep the blade in a decent condition during my learning curve. After many horrific shaves, I finally threw the towel in and bought a Feather AC and several packs of blades.

If returning to carts is your final choice, then all the best!

I can understand the OP's frustration I think. I felt a bit like that when I first switched from DE's to straights and couldn't get the hang of it for a long time. All I would say is that with effort and perseverance comes attainment. Throwing superior tools away because you're not able to use them yet isn't the way to improve.

I would strongly argue against the 'superior tools' and 'not able to use them' part of your post.

When cartridges were introduced men ditched their old DE razors in their millions. These men knew nothing other than DE shaving. If cartridges were 'inferior' they would never have sold, and sold to men with many, many years 'practice' with DE razors.

It's hardly rocket surgery.
