Gillette re-release DE razor

Yawn, change the record, this one's stuck.

I agree with your point about people rather having a truly Gillette manufactured razor rather than a re-branded Merkur or whatever, maybe if this does well a new Gillette DE might happen, they certainly have the muscle to make it so...

there is NO MONEY in it for Gillette. They have already proven they only kept making their OWN DE razor blades for the india market SIMPLY because they had been unable to find a way to make a high profit cartridge razor that could be afforded by anyone in the indian markets. NOW that they have developed a lower cost cartridge razor for the market around india..... NOTICE that their DE razor blade production has gotten rather screwy.

you standard cartridge razor from Gillette and Schick costs them 10 to 20 cents EACH depending on the number of blades in it. And understand they sell those cartridges at anywhere from 2.50 to 4.50 EACH depending on the package option and number of blades.

None of this has anything to do with Gillette hating men... it's called capitalism

No, just their latest infamous ads did. But, that's what happens when you let Metrosexual "pajama boys" call the shots in the ad dept.

Mod Edit: I had to look up the reference to understand this and it turns out not to be as rude as it sounds to UK ears, and since I don't think 'Metrophobia' (fear of underground railways?) is a thing, I'm unworried. The picture is removed under the general political rule.

Well by now, anyone who wants one of these razors will probably know that they are all 'Sold Out' and considering that they were of 'Limited Quantity' then the chances of buying one on the secondary market will be touch and go and at double the original price or more.
What I want to know is, How many Razors were manufactured for this event ?

There is no shortage of DE89 razor heads, they are a current production model. The handle and presentation may have been a limited edition to test the market.
The whole package itself, regardless of quality's will become more desirable by everyone if the overall limit amount is very small, say less than 5000.
It makes no difference on who made what on the razor or where it's manufactured. A 1st Generation, very limited Gillette DE razor that is exclusive will be sought after by even the people who at the moment are unintetested.

Here's a thread on another forum with excellent photos for all you "ham & eggers"!! ;)

its not a limited edition of anything. I have seen that handle for sale on a ej or merkur razor head rebranded for other companies. think I have even seen it for sale on its on with maggard razors
