Gillette re-release DE razor

its a merkur head, and a merkur handle. whats so big about that?
Looks like a collaboration with Edwin Jagger. The head is a DE89 and the handle is a copy of the New Short Comb common bar handle but using modern manufacturing techniques; the knurling is etched and the handle is a little heavier than the common bar handle which was ~22 grams. This handle is supposed to weigh 29 grams. The only involvement from P&G (Gillette) seems to be their trademarks on the presentation case. Out sourcing is common these days so I suppose not surprising that Gillette are collaborating on this.
Some are excited by this project. It is a nice gift for someone just starting with the DE razor.
I expect early reviews around 10th November.

the question is, can I get the case separately as it looks like it could be the only thing about this worth while. could be nice to have a fancy modern made case for a tech.

Yea I like the case and handle so I might buy one and just pass on the head, that's if they make it to market

Nice, tidy wee gift with Christmas coming along. I can see this being a little ongoing earner for Mr. Gillette, even if it isn't going to be a world beater. Good complete package to get someone started.

A real starter kit is far better and more goodies for less money. Chances are the razors are made in the same Chinese factory for that matter.

Thing is, no one else is producing a 'real' starter kit that I know of in Gt. Britain. I can still see this appealing as a together package of razor, blades & travel/storage container. An appeal which appears, from the Amazon pre orders, to be bearing fruit.

Made in the same Chinese factory when made in the USA?

but do we really want a Gillette liscenced razor... why would we want to use a product of a company that hates men?

Vintage gear is easy to use, the company loved men. Made good gear for them. The new Gillette HATES men.
