Hi All

As my User name Suggests I've been Lurking For a while Just Thought for my first Post I Would post a Few Pics of a little Furlough Project on a Fatboy I got for 30 Quid off ebay Disclaimer This Razor has a lot of Pitting especially the Guards, and this was just a Fun Little Project to get a working FB on a budget!

After long Soaks/ Boils etc It Finally Came Apart after much "gentle" persuasion and lots of patience, everything was seemingly welded together by Green Gunk and neglect Especially the Base Plate to the Bottom Plate and the Adjustment dial to the Collet as well as a broken position indicator spring :(

Trying To Separate The Bottom Plate From The Base Plate was Fun Without damaging or bending them. I eventually resorted to this as even soaking for weeks and bathing for days in mineral oil didn't help matters! The Adjustment Dial i had to Wrap with Material and use two Pipe grips to separate which was very nerve wracking!!

That's absolutely brilliant! Great work! Excellent choice of soap with the Spitfire as well.

You'll get so much more out of shaving with that razor now and you've probably guaranteed another 50 years of service from it.

I Didn't Rush it at all! Plus waiting for bits to arrive etc and soaking for long periods trying to soften the gunk so it was spread over a month or two also a lot of time spent building up courage to use more strenuous means to separate the parts! It is surprisingly sturdy as long as you are careful on where and how you grip the parts (lots of lurking on shaving forums for tidbits of info and helpful youtube Vids) Probably a few days if compressed down into a "montage"!
Was a great learning experience Though! Will feel more confident if i ever do another! knowing my luck too confident!!
