GFT Soap Lathering Problems

Hey guys

I have the GFT Coconut and Violet hard soaps. I have used them both in the last week or so and the lather they produced was terrible, dissipated almost straight away.

Has anyone else had a similar problem or has anyone had this problem and found a solution? I like the scent of both of these and I don't want to resort to using them in the shower yet.

It is a bit disappointing that soap from an 'up market' vendor should be so poor. At they moment I am giving them the benefit of the doubt but that could change depending on the advice I get from here!

I have been meaning to pull the trigger on violet for some time now but everytime i read one of these posts, i pull back.
That said, my water is so pure it could probably lather itself so i am still willing to give it a go.
If you can't get on with the Violet, i might take it off your hands to give it a go myself :)

Put it up for sale if you can't get on with it!

I tried a Trumper soap years ago and was so disappointed with it not latherIng that I threw it in the bin after several attempts.
Surely they must know of this problem?
Their creams on the other hand are top quality and always performed perfectly for me.

https://www.soapworksltd.co.uk/soapworks-story single handedly destroyed nearly all British hard shaving soaps... They'd never made a shaving soap before and obviously didn't invest much time in finding out what's involved as they ended up producing what is essentially bath soap for everyone (apart from D.R Harris who make their own.) IIRC Floris & ToBS were the first to realise and reformulated sharpish, followed by Penhaligon's and more recently Crabtree & Evelyn... GFT and T&H still deny there is any problem to this day :censored:

These dud soaps can be easily identified by the first ingredient, if Sodium Palmate then its rubbish, if Potassium Palmate then its good.

I use shaving soap infrequently, but about a year ago I bought a cake of Trumpers Rose; in a word it was “terrible”. I couldn't believe how poorly it lathered; I've used Trumpers creams for years and find them very good. Actually, the only soap I use now is in stick form, specifically Harris Lavender and Tabac, which are my go to travel sticks.

I bought it 3 years ago when it was £2.99 delivered.... Ended up giving it away, so it's a no from me. For £5.50 ish I'd rather have a puck of MWF.
Thanks for the heads up. Will avoid for now. Can get some Nanny's for two pounds more. Not a fan of MWF, struggle to lather it in my water. Wanted to love it coming from Bradford.
