On a Monday morning, the norm is for me to get the old trust EJ DB89 out with an Astra Platinum blade, and hack back at the extra day's stubble I've gained from not shaving on Sunday.
Usually (Tuesday- Saturday) I use one of my SEs, but I like having a DE for an extra-stubble day as it dulls the blade more, and DE blades seem a bit cheaper and handle the extra hair a bit better. But the SE has a very small head over the blade, and so I find it easier to get right up under the nose compared to a DE.
Why am I telling you all this?
Well, partly because I'm waiting for my computer to process stuff to let me get on with my work, but also because this week, for the first time in ages, I managed to get right up under the nose and have a good all round shave with my DE. The problem is, I have no idea what I've done differently! So clearly it is possible, I just need to find out how.
