First use of tallow based soap : an epiphany!

My memory is not the best but Valobra and vintage Art of Shaving (made by Valobra) - tested both and really like AOS but for some reason Valobra did not work for me, I have read about Czech & Speake being tallow based and I think one more UK soap that I just can't remember the name of at the moment, need my 10 o clock coffee :)

C&S were made by Valobra as far as I know the same base just different scents.

Great info and nice to hear i'm not alone with my love of tallow bath soap :) I only use bars of NOS soap so I really shouldn't buy any more but i'm sorely tempted when its 65p for 3 bars in Asda, just looked it up!

I use my bars of soap in the shower and in the sinks but my Mrs uses shower gel and still buys the odd pump dispenser, though she has started to come round to using proper soap in the sink, this means soap always lasts quite a long time in our house. Very frustrating when I want to try out a different soap :)

The NOS soaps I have include: Camay, Imperial Leather, Zest, Fairy, Knights Castile, Pears, Fairy, Shield (Aqua and Ivory). If anyone remembers these soaps be good to hear your memories of them!

It's good stuff, the cheap Asda soap.

A good stock of NOS soaps you have there, I remember the old tallow Imperial Leather from many years ago - from birth to reformulation it was the only soap ever used in my household. I can't remember exactly when it was reformulated but the new one isn't great. Didn't know anything about ingredients when I stopped buying the new IL, just that it was terrible and needed to buy something else.

Shower Gel/Handwash is the work of the devil; no it really is. I'm 37 and I only used shower gel/handwash last year, and after using it for the first time in my life I broke out in eczema - with the worst on my hands around my knuckles. Stopped using that filth and it went away.
