First time!

Okay Lads, for a long time I was thinking of changing to a DE shaver and after a visit at Ocado I found the Wilkinson classic (the metal one)for 12 quid! So, I decided to give a go and voilá! All the fear went away apart of a little nick (by the way, I'm using to shave my head!). Still learning the best angle but I believe will be a matter of few shaves to get the best performance!
Already got some pack of blades (shark, feathers, persona...) from the shop at Piccadilly arcades (quite expensive 4 quid per packet) and can't wait to try all (I'm just using once)!
Anyway, the only cons (not a proper cons to be honest) it's the shaver itself! The sideways didn't cover the total length of the blade! Any suggestions for a cheap, butterfly system that covers the sideways?
By the way, I shave 1 sometimes 2 per week, atg.

Thanks!

I'm not sure I've seen a Butterfly razor that covers the ends of the blade cheap or otherwise but there are a few three peice razors that do, the Hone razor springs to mind. P.

As well as the Hone, there are now quite a few 3-piece DEs that cover the blade ends. Pils, Standard, some Ikons, the Futur, Option Five of blessed memory , Blackland Dart, RR GC, to name a few; although I have to say that some razors "sort of" or barely cover the blade end or ends, and this sometimes varies according to the make of blade used.

The only new butterfly (aka TTO) I can immediately think of that does this is the Rockwell Model T, and that's neither cheap nor readily available. As a rough guide, I'd say that if the end-caps on the razor are further out than the sides of the doors, then the chances are the blade tabs will be protruding. A quick look at photos of some of the Chinese and Indian Subcontinent razors suggests that they don't hide the ends.

Other full width razors

Hone (as mentioned)
Blacklands blackbird
Ikon SB (although I don't think it is newbie friendly)
Ikon standard open comb
Razorock game changer (a true bargain)
Muhle R41 (another not really a beginners razor)

I understand your feelings here as I hate blade protrusion.

Out of those the Razorock is probably the best start in to the world of quality new razors.

Keep an eye on the Buy Sell Trade section which is a great source of great razors for great prices. There are a couple of 'Asylum' razors in there for cracking prices. I would but for the fact I just bought the Hone off the chap

Also the inexpensive Wilkinson Classic covers the ends of the blade, the price is under £5 including a five pack of blades.

The shaving experience with this razor is easy, it is described as mild and a good first razor for those moving from cartridge/disposables.

I criticised that in my review of the classic but it doesn't affect the shave, it's definitely a visual preference but I don't like the blade hanging out of the side either. My R41 doesn't have it neither does my AS-D2 but the Feather isn't a budget razor. You said you were looking for a TTO or butterfly, any particular reason for that? You might find more 3 piece razors enclose the blade.

A silly one! I'm a bit clumsy and the butterfly system seems imho the best way to fit the blade in without major "problems".
