Anyway, I made a real hash of my chin using an open comb micromatic, and found it was down to shaving angle (i.e. too steep). I find it's always best to start with the head flat to my skin, then gradually increase the angle by a few degrees until the blade engages.

BTW, my 1912 also has a slightly larger gap at the centre, but it still give great shaves so I don't think that's the problem.
