Evening all,
I've been eying up some filarmonicas to add to my collection but they ain't cheap! The only ones I've found are from the states which makes them even more expensive with delivery and custom charges. What's your opinions? Worth it or over hyped?
can I get a better razor for the money?

I'm in the same position as yourself, been looking for one for a few months now but the prices are always very high, some from usa are $30 for postage then another £20 import tax here, thats a lot of cash to add on, I just look on the for sale pages of the forums and hope something shows up....good luck

Well I was wondering about that of course but there's no mention of any further charges. It is a Japanese seller with Amazon but unlike some of their Japanese and overseas sellers the customs tag isn't mentioned.
But I'll have to wait and see. Fingers crossed
Got one :)
Not the beautiful white scaled model but a filli all the same, it has been used a lot, the edge is over the blade decals etching but it gives ma a chance to try out a filli, waa not a lot of cash either so well pleased.

That's a terrible example of a Filarmonica 14, the blade size is normally an 8/8 what on earth have they done to that, stay well clear of that piece of junk. there are plenty out there, my advice would steer clear of the 14 model concentrate on the 13.

Any reason for leaning towards the 13? I prefer a square tip and have only seen 14's with a square tip

I bought a couple of Fillis two years or so ago. They shave brilliantly, but no better than a well prepped £30 straight! They do look nice and I guess it was just that everyone wants one that I got mine. For the price of a Filli you could have several just as good straights, but sometimes it is nice to treat yourself.

The 13 comes in both square and round points like all Filarmonica razors including 12, 13, and 14s trouble with any razor with that number 14 on it you will pay a lot more because all 14s are usually 8/8 and with big razors come big prices, the 13 is a full hollow 6/8. PS I have owned many Filarmonica NOS first-generation models and the second generation, in my opinion, they are OK nothing special.

I have a first gen filarmonica 14 especial (nothing on the reverse side), I currently use it as a letter/parcel opener. I only paid about 35 euro for it though.

I like the look of the Filarmonica 14, but I have doubts whether it's worth the money they are going for. True, the value of an item is what people are prepared to pay for them, and when you find one in good condition the price is around £250.

I have been tempted, because it is an iconic razor, but then Koraat makes a version that is very similar and probably a better quality razor, so I think my money will go to them when I can't resist the temptation any longer.
