Feather DER-A Double Edge Adjustable

I have had four great shaves from mine. three with a Lab Blue and this morning with a feather. Only on the first setting and with two days growth this morning. After trying a feather blade a while go I didn't like them, but this morning has changed my mind.

Any more reviews available yet? (Not that I don't trust yours NortherSaint! LOL) Just got an email marketing this razor from Executive Shaves, and Santa is definitely interested as long as I keep on the 'good boy' list!

I just bought this razor from Connaught's; they have it on sale for £28.80.

I must say it has surprised me how good a shave it gives. I found the mild setting gave a perfectly acceptable shave without being scary. The aggressive setting again definitely felt closer but not silly aggressive.
The handle is actually really well designed and gives good grip and balance for all shave angles.
I would say that the two settings are enough range for this razor. I think I'll use it for travelling. It's light enough to carry but does not feel cheap at all. Also, at this price it's not the end of the world if it goes missing.

Whenever one shaves, microabrasions can allow entry of pathogens into the skin.
One of the main purposes of alum & aftershaves was to prevent such infections.
I suffered from folliculitis & PFB when I first started shaving decades ago & it is a problem exacerbated by the tropical climate.
Many teenagers suffer from similar problems when they first start shaving.

The US dept. of Defence is currently evaluating antimicrobial copper alloys for use in their hospitals. Ongoing research has discovered that these alloys are surrounded by a zone that can be over a foot wide, in which 99 or more percent of pathogens are destroyed. The simple use of brass doorknobs is enough to reduce the risk of hospital acquired infection by over half.

Brass/ bronze is strong enough to make razors from & does not suffer from the machinability problems that stainless steel does.

I have worked with stainless steels most of my life, & don't consider them the right material for razors. So why use an inferior material when you can use the best possible one?

Personally, I like the idea of my razor being made of a material that is self-sterilizing.
Now that is interesting. I have never had any issues with SS but I do have a few brass and a bronze razor that I really like.
