Feather AS-D2s

are you sure ?
i'm let to believe feather is not moulded steel but i don't know myself

It's MIM with chrome plating. There's nothing wrong with them to be fair although I do think the colour of the plating and the Feather logo look naff.
They are a nice mild shaver and there's plenty people who love them, and use them exclusively. I think to some folks a mild razor isn't worth that kind of money but mild razors aren't lesser razors to those who prefer mild razors.

Value for money is a funny thing. It's obvious from reading through the Forums that a lot of people pay big bucks for high end razors on the more aggressive side but rarely use them. To me, and this is just me, the die hard fan who uses a razor exclusively, is getting better value for their money, be it a mild razor or whatever. And there's a lot of die hard AS-D2 fans it seems. We had a AS-D2 pass around on here a few years back and I gave it a go but I honestly prefer my Tech or a Fatip Gentile. 'Orses for courses innit. I like Tabac so there.

hahahaha yip i guess not everything is to everyone's liking. i can agree with everything your saying, i actually think my next razor might be more aggressive

I have used DE razors for the past 15 years an established a nice little shave den! I was nervous about buying the Feather mainly due to cost and the mixed reviews. How different can a razor be?
so glad I did. It's fabulous and now my daily driver. I was always a bit confused about “aggressive” “efficient” “mild” etc. So commonly used so I will try to explain in my words.
yes it's well made but then I don't think the quality is any different to other razors I have which are all well made.
it glides over the skin with less drag than my other razors. A few days growth can be painful to shave but not with the feather.
it takes time to get used to it. 45 degree angle takes getting used to. If I switch my other DE are useless haha.
it feels mild, like it's not cutting ie number 1 or 2 plate on the Rockwell. But it cuts as close as the 5 plate.
I don't get any skin irritation.
when I side by side comparison with my Rockwell, Parker's, mule, murkur etc, the feather wins in comfort and closeness every time.
you don't need to use feather blades. I find Astra's and Wilkinson swords work well.
hope this helps.

For me the only double edge razor that betters the Feather AS-D2 is the WS-D2 /WS-D1, i think it looks better, it weighs less, it has a longer handle which gives it a perfect balance to weight ratio and the head is identical to it's stainless steel brother so a great shaving experience is a gauantee. Think of it as a AS-D2 with an evening suit on.
I still love my AS-D1 / D2 but I prefer the WS razors. Of course YMMV :) P.
