Favourite Band

Favourite band - always a difficult one, as is my favourite album. Having a fairly substantial collection, when pressed on the latter I usually say it's The Fall's last one.
In the words of the late great John Peel, The Fall... always different, always the same (Half Man Half Buscuit run them close though).

Music has been my main passion and the one constant in my life.
The first band that became 'my band' we're the Cocteau Twins.
I remember seeing them for the first time on a Saturday morning music show. I think Gary Crowley presented it? With this track...

Ever since that day music was my thing.

Around the same time The Smiths entered my life and they were life changing. Seriously, they changed my life. If it was for The Smiths I wouldn't have gone to the Smiths Convention and met my first girlfriend. Also at the same convention I heard The Stone Roses for the first time, in particular 'I am the Resurrection'. Everything changed that day.
I have lots of bands I love dearly, including Doves BTW. So it's difficult to single one out.
My favorite band still releasing music is Radiohead. They are simply untouchable.

Absolutely! My all time favourite song. I didn't get to see the Roses the first time round but made damn sure I got to the second time (or the Second Coming if you will)!

Happy Monday's, I should have had them on my list too. I was just a couple years too young for “Madchester” but there were clubs all over town playing that music for years and years after, loved going out in town.

I loved Pounding by the Doves too, then some git ruined it for me and told me (that's) the song City walk out too!!!

So hard to answer. Music has always been a massive part of my life, and this is not an exaggeration. I enjoy many genres, and love seeing live gigs. In fact, off to see those brilliant Glaswegian shoegaze rockers Mogwai in a couple of weeks. OK - I'll blast off a few favourites from the hip:

The National
Sufjan Stevens
Sigur Ros
Bon Iver
The Smiths
REM
The Cure
Black Sabbath
The Decemberists
Radiohead
Alice In Chains
The Books
The XX
The Church
Dirty Three
Eels
The Hold Steady
Low
Ryan Adams
The War on Drugs
M83

......and I'm just getting started!

+ 1 on Mogwai..a totally under estimated band, superb musicians..You need to add Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds to your list also..;)

Midnight City by M83; one of my favorite songs of the last 8-10 years:

Missed this thread completely.

Very hard to say as I love such a broad spectrum of musical style and taste, but as an offering and in some cases solo artists who mix it around

Sex Pistols
Dead Kennedys
Buzzcocks
Rammstein
Cradle of Filth
999
The Saints
Iron Maiden
Meshuggah
Joe Jackson
Jason Isbell
Soft Cell
Band Maid
Blood Stain Child
The Pixies
Aurora
Stiff little Fingers
David Bowie
The Cure

And the list could go on and on and on.

Hard to choose one but if I got to decide it would be Led Zeppelin. I think explanation is not needed. Lately tried to make shorter playlist of their songs and ended with 70 percent of them.
