FAKE Watches

If you want a well made original watch, that isn't pretending to be anyone else's, will keep accurate time and has a different look about it, why not consider Stauer.

I have been collecting them for some time.

This is the link ot their website,

<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.stauer.co.uk/?utm_source=APAPOR" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.stauer.co.uk/?utm_source=APAPOR</a><!-- m -->

and I have included a pic of three of mine.

And before anyone asks....no I don't have a commercial interest in Stauer watches!

Not really my sort of thing aesthetically but good Chinese movements. (The Seagull automatic, I think, which is pretty bullet-proof.)

Vinny here might take one off your hands for <300.

There was a time . . . but nah, not any more.

My Casio G-shock (GW-M5600) is all I need in a watch.

I'm open to education here.... but I wouldn't have thought it illegal unless you're selling it but pretending it's a real one with a view to deceiving people?

No, I think there's prima facie copyright issues ("Omega" , "Rolex" etc are registered names/trademarks)

Well i'm a huge watch fan. But without the money to afford the likes of omega or rolex. So I don't try.

There are absolutely tons of genuinely good watch makers at the lower end of the market, also giving you swiss made watches with ETA automatic movements and great looks, without the blatant "fake" stigma.

I have two Christopher Ward watches:

a C60 diver:

and a C5 aviator:

Both of these have a superb premium feel, the aviators facework and detailing is utterly superb, and the diver feels as solid and well put together as any of its bigger brothers from Hamilton, Longines and Omega.

Steinhart are another brand worth looking at, producing watches that are a homage to rolex's without wearing the faulex badge:

my point.... well my point is that its easy enough to be into watches and get the same look as the big boys, without trying to pretend that you own one of them. I wear these watches with pride, knowing not one of them cost me more than £300

Nice watches!

I've seen the CW ones around - although I think I still prefer the Time Factors ones (in fact, I'd rather have one of those than any of the big Swiss jobbies).

This has been an interesting and informative thread - rather wish I'd posted here before buying the watch!

Is there anything The Shaving Room doesn't know?! I had (and maybe even given) some great advice over the last 18mnths or so - thanks one and all.

Is this another goodbye? If you stay I actually will post pics of the watches I use

You rotten git Shrink, now you have got me looking at buying a new watch..............

I have only got 3 and one is in bits (my original Seiko Divers watch purchased in 1979).............maybe I should buy another just in case..........

well i can testify to the quality, originality, design and sheer customer service excellence from christopher ward. Im currently saving to buy their C40, which uses the same movement as the omega speedmaster, and tag carrera but costs about a 3rd of the price.

The C40 is a bit out of my price range, but the Steinhart Ocean Black I like. What is the size inc the bezel? And do you have to order direct from the factory?
At the moment I am looking at a Swiss Army watch in the same price range (340 Euros plus P&P)

Hmm, my watch reads "Victorinox" on one row at the top and then "Swiss Army" on one row under it.

Victorinox are the only manufacturer that can use the "Swiss Army" logo on their products. Yours may be a later one than the watch in the picture?
