Fake Shark blades?

What's the consensus then? Legit but likely a low QC batch intended for a certain market (domestic or otherwise?) We know it happens... Most of the brand name goods found in £ shops on UK high streets are from entirely separate production runs using inferior recipes etc.

Unless Lord replies here or to me personally, we will never know. And I doubt they will, based on their clunky website and non-responsiveness to emails.

I highly doubt blades that last only one shave before the edge is wrecked are genuine.

I'm actually now wondering if the Packaging date, "000/05" is not an error but actually partially correct. Maybe this is stock from 2005. Could explain the SOTRACO branding instead of Lord Co.

Fakes definitely exist for high end blades. Gillette, Feather, Super Iridium etc there are fakes on the market you need to watch out for. It's been the case for years. But nobody is going to fake a Lord branded blade. The effort that goes into manufacturing, distribution, packaging etc they would never break even.

I stock almost the entire Lord range. Shark, Big Ben, Lord Super Stainless, Lord Platinum Class, Lord Super Chrome, Asco, Crown plus more. So, if what you're saying is true, they would have to all be fakes, right? I cannot imagine there is anybody in the world who would have considered faking Lord Super Chromes! These all come from the same direct from manufacturer source.

That's the last I'll say on this. Have a great day every one!

The Pakistanis are even making fake Lord blades.

Even the genuine Lord blades are hit & miss IMO. I no longer buy any of them. Indian made Wilkies are better than any Lord blade I have bought.

Quite. It's really worth investigating which blade brands are being faked so you can avoid them, or at the very least get them from the best sources and by so doing possibly avoid buying fakes.

The best blades I have had recently were the blades sent to me with my Rockwell, i.e. Rockwell branded blades. Numerous very smooth shaves with those blades, really excellent.

I also bought a bunch of ASTRA blades from eBay (2500 of 'em!), before I was aware of all the counterfeits. Luckily I have found that they are not bad ... had 4 shaves with the first one and the edge is still good.

You are certainly in the minority on those as most (myself included) have condemned them as next to worthless.

Let me qualify that then: they initially sent me poor blades that seemed to rust easily, and when I complained to them they told me that there had been a bad batch and sent me a complimentary 500 blades, which were excellent.

If you are sent poor quality blades, complain. The squeaky wheel gets the oil
